There is now a slide deck available from the first Public Information Session for the HWY 3 Twinning and Talbotville Bypass project in St. Thomas. Interchanges are being proposed at the intersections with Wellington and Wonderland/Ron McNeil, while an offset roundabout is being proposed at HWY 4. Roads are being designed to the minimum 100km/h standard. Looks like they are planning for major growth in the region beyond just the battery plant. Based on the design at the intersection of HWY 3 and 4, I think we can expect to eventually see another future extension westward and proper connection to HWY 401.

Some of the diagrams from the slide deck:

Tangentially related to HWY 69/400 twinning - a new limited partnership has been formed between Shwe Miikaan (owned by Henvey Inlet, Magnetawan, and Shawanaga FNs) and SNC Lavalin with the intention of securing the remaining twinning work, now estimated at a cost of $500M.

Teranorth has been the preferred contractor for the HWY 69 twinning previously, but they are now working on the HWY 11/17 twinning between Thunder Bay and Nipigon. Between the twinning efforts at various places along HWY 11/17, the remaining twinning at HWY 69, and the proposed 2+1 work along HWY 11, it will help to have another group in the north that can do the work.

I am really surprised interchanges are proposed for the Highway 3 extension. Guess they are going to build it right from the start this time.

-----

Still nothing for London however. Just a few shitty overused 2 lane country roads to connect London with St Thomas. That's where a lot of the workers/commuters will be coming from.

It would be nice to have at least one 4 lane road or freeway, a bus route, a cycle way and/or rail service reinstated. One can dream right? :p

-----

That Not Just Bikes guy is going to have a field day with this. Wonderland Road, his poster Child of bad roads, is going to have 3 interchanges south of London once this is done. 402, 401 and now Highway 3.

The 2023 highways program is out. Unfortunately, unlike when they updated the 2022 Highways program, no new expansion projects are listed.

We do get some more specific dates on projects however, including some which have been pushed.

In terms of expansion, the following items are listed:

2024:
- Highway 400 HOVs from Langstaff to Major Mackenzie
- Bradford Bypass (!!!)

2025-2026:
- Garden City Skyway Twinning
- Highway 5/6 Interchange
- Hanlon Parkway Woodlawn Road interchange
- Highway 400 extension to Shebeshekong Rd
- Highway 69 Twinning Highway 522 to Highway 529
- Highway 17 twinning phase 2 Kenora

The 401 widening for 20km or so south of London is also listed as "upcoming expansion" still but has 2023 contract numbers which suggests that construction should start soon..

I thought I heard that they were looking at widening Highbury to 4 lanes down from London?

The City of St Thomas has proposed widening Highbury from Highway 3 close to it's northern city limit. However that's only for a km or two. There's nothing about the stretch of Highbury in Elgin Country / Central Elgin and in southern London.

What's the status of the oft-delayed Highway 7 from KW to Guelph?
Still shown as “Upcoming Expansion” with no date.

The HWY 6/Woodlawn Interchange and the HWY 7 Grand River Bridges projects will both need to happen before the full HWY 7 project starts, however. HWY 6/Woodlawn is shown as 2025-2026 and Grand River Bridges is shown as “Design Underway” and shows that a delivery method has been chosen already (Construction Manager/General Contractor), but still does not have a firm date.

They never do unless. Unless they are treated like a criminal with a tracker, they can steal another car and kill more people. Canada gives them these kinda freedom unless explicitly deem a threat. Is her government interested in protecting people?
Its "his government" now

Two sections of highway 69 that was 2024-2025 are now 2025-26.. so I guess its infinitely delayed. Highway 11 2+1 pilot also shows a start of 2025-26.
