Closure of a section of Bloor Street West starts Monday as construction continues on reconfiguration of Six Points interchange
The one-block section of Bloor Street West between Kipling Avenue and Prennan Avenue will be fully closed for reconstruction until the end of December starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 26.
The work includes raising the road grade and widening this section of Bloor Street West, as well as installing sidewalks, bike lanes and underground services. This construction is the last phase of the City's work to transform the Six Points interchange from a highway-like junction to a community-centric Etobicoke Centre that will feature pedestrian-friendly intersections, boulevards, trees and bike lanes. Construction of the new interchange is expected to be completed in 2020.
During this full closure, road users are encouraged to use the following alternative routes:
• To access Kipling Avenue from eastbound Bloor Street West: Travel east on Bloor Street West, south on Aukland Avenue, east on Dundas Street West, and north or south on Kipling Avenue.
• To access Bloor Street West, west of Kipling Avenue: Travel north or south on Kipling Avenue, west on Dundas Street West, north on Aukland Road and east or west on Bloor Street West.
Signs will be posted to manage traffic in the area and to help ensure the safe travel of drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
A number of TTC and MiWay public transit routes that involve travel to and from Kipling Station may be affected by this work. You can visit http://www.ttc.ca or http://www.mississauga.ca/portal/miway for updated schedule information.
More information about the Six Points reconfiguration and new Etobicoke Centre is available at http://www.toronto.ca/etobicokecentre.
