Look, all I'm saying is that 99% of the population don't know what these 2 names mean. A lot more know who Jerry Howarth is, you can't argue that.
We shouldn't be forcing aboriginal names just because they're aboriginal.
So you think aboroginal people will forgive us for taking their land by naming a couple of streets with aboriginal names? grow up, this is a sham just to make people feel better about themselves.
My dude, no one is interested in your tedious IDW pedantry. I don't know who the shit Jerry Howarth is and I really don't care. That you would expose yourself to the rest of the board with these views however, is pretty comical. Thanks for the inside look.

He/she had quite a comical encounter about climate change denial and the moon landings being faked with me recently.. Lots of fun.

Sometime this week, southbound traffic on Kipling will start using the new southbound lanes. Paving was taking place south of Bloor St today, as well for the eastbound Bloor Lane. Most likely the north side could be finish today or Wed.

The missing section of asphalt on Dundas is now paved and new striping could be done this week to return Dundas westbound lanes west of Kipling back to 3 lanes until spring 2020. Still have to rebuild the road to Auckland in 2020 as well sidewalks.

They have place asphalt down for the west sidewalk on Kipling until next year when they will build the new sidewalk/bike lane.

Looks like they are stating to work on the Old Dundas Rd to Kipling today

They paved the southbound lanes on Tuesday. Don't know why it took 3 days.
Still had some curbs to pour for turning lanes and traffic lights at Bloor, as well strip it.

Don't think all of Bloor was ready on Tuesday.

Now open as 4 lanes until spring when it will become 2 to allow work to be done to finish the sidewalks. Otherwise, they can go back to sleep till spring at the rate they being going.

Lot more up on my site
People need to get out of their cars or drive around the area to understand what is taking place as well why longer before complaining. Took a look at the site on Sunday along with a number of other sites in the area I shoot, as well talking to a few people. Was told paving wasn't fully completed until Wed. Not only was Kipling being pave, but also Bloor and Dundas as well "ALL" the driveways that connect to the new road. Lots of curbs were made out of asphalt.

Once the paving was done, it was up to the City to strip the roads to the point the road remain as it has been until "ALL" the stripping was done.

Lots of concrete curbs to be form and pour, but a 2020 work schedule. All the driveways will be rebuilt in 2020 as well.

The Dundas road connecting to Kipling will not be completed until 2020. A lot more sidewalk has been done on Bloor St and will be finish in 2020 for the north side. Nothing has started on the south side. This is only for the new extension and no sidewalk on the west side of Kipling at all.

By the summer with hope, this whole project will come to an end. At some point in 2020, Kipling will become 2 lanes again to finish all the sidewalks, the new medium on both side of Bloor, "ALL" the driveways that are effected by this work.

^I will gladly eat my words on this one. I really expected this project to be a fiasco. Traffic flows much more freely than I would have ever expected. The ability to go straight through the intersection on Bloor actually makes it easier to take that route, versus the old cloverleaf.

There's a lot to be done still, and it will all be for naught if the wrong decisions are made while developing the area, but for now it actually feels like it could be a walkable zone one day.

Let's hope that the right decisions are made as development proceeds.

Bulk of the work this year will be building the sidewalk, finishing off Bloor/Kipling Intersection, finish rebuilding Dundas from the Plaza to Auckland including the traffic lights there. Then there is the rebuilding of Dundas that will connect to Kipling northbound.

I find it's a lot faster driving straight on Bloor to/from Islington than the old way.

Shelters still have to be install for the new bus stops on Kipling and Dundas this year.

Once everything is done, top coat of asphalt to be lay and strip for 3 lanes on Dundas that will speed up traffic more than the current 2 lanes.

Lots of excess land now for development that will make the area more density and pedestrian friendly.

With 3 new development site including the plaza, this road change will have a major impact on the area. If all the blocks between Bloor and Dundas west of Kipling were redeveloped by one or 2 developer as a whole block, it would have more of an impact on the area than the plan stand alone in the park development.
