There are lots of things that are clearly factual and independently corroborated; her being a hooker is not one of them. The fact he was partying with a 24-year old is enough to raise eyebrows, IMHO.

My sentiments exactly. And I'm sure Renata isn't splitting hairs over whether the 24 year old slutty Stunella her husband is partying with is a pro or not.

Jesus, this Alana discussion is bordering on mysogyny here. We don't know anything about this person and we're gawking over photos and calling a perfect stranger a "slut." Losing faith in this forum lately.

I disagree in the bump/lines thing. I'll agree there is a level of difference between say rails and smoking crack, or rails and injecting. But there is no difference between bumps and rails except that you do one because you're in public and it's quicker and more discreet or you're just doing a little at a time to maintain a high. If you're snorting blow you're snorting blow. The quantity of each individual snort is irrelevant in this context. Well, I think anyway.

No, yeah, for sure. It's a question of AMOUNT, right? But Ford is a bit of a liar so if you accuse him of doing lines and he was only doing a bump, of course he's going to say, "It's an outright lie I was doing lines!" [in his head: "I only did a little bump!"]

Of course it's actually irrelevant; he just doesn't think the way you and I do.

Of course they had to WANT to be conned. Anybody with any reasoning skills could see from the start that he was feeding his audience what they wanted to hear, but that his personal record was that of a bullying contrarian.

I got into a bit of a thing here a few months ago with someone who didn't think it was fair that I was insinuating that Ford supporters might not be intelligent. And he had a few people backing him up too. My point was always that the people who voted for him needed to be shamed a bit, and the "blame them not, they know not what they do" shtick was letting them off way too easy. Nice to see that more people are finally coming around.

Ford probably originally met her through her work as Miss Toronto Tourism and introduced her to others by her actual given name, so whatever the nature of their relationship it wasn't facilitated through escort pages. Most of Ford's staffers seem to be in their early 20's, peers to this girl, likely to be perplexed/ grossed to see her around an unattractive, sweaty man who to them seems so much much older, and assume, due to their own biases, that she can't be around him through her own choice. But Ford is a celebrity, a lightning rod for both fans and haters, and has money and influence to toss around. Some people want to be around that, hangers-on.

I'm a rubbernecker as much as anyone around this story, and wouldn't be able to turn away from a juicy tales involving a pretty young woman, but speculation here has slagged a few of the secondary characters as prostitutes, criminals, pimps, drug users or dealers with often no evidence.

The Ontario Federation of Labour is meeting today to consider a public statement to demand Rob Ford resign.

and frankly, even when there is NO possible ambiguity, it's not like RoFo has a sustained track record for credibility.

I agree to a certain extent (and I'm leaning towards Alana not being an escort), but I think from Ford's staff's POV, it's not just about their own biases. According to the interviews in the recently unredacted parts of the ITO:
- There were rumours amongst Ford's staff that he used prostitutes. (I have to believe there's more behind these rumours than the fact that he was hanging around Alana. Doesn't mean the rumours are true....)
- Ford talked about going out and getting hammered and "laid". In this context I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about having sex with his wife. In the case of Ford, most people would assume (fairly or not) that he can't just go out and hook-up on the strength of his charm and good looks, so they would make the next logical assumption.... (Of course, maybe he could get girls based on his power and social status, but maybe most people's biases would cause them to doubt that.)

In that context (assuming the information provided to the police was true), it's not hard to see how Ford's staff jumped to certain conclusions about Alana (as unfair as they may be).

Like some have hilariously pointed out, a suspected drug dealer is complaining about having his reputation tarnished by being associated with the mayor. Fair or not, nobody wants to be associated with him these days. If people draw unfair conclusions, that's on him, to a very large extent.

AGREED +1000

Even if she were a sex worker, so what? It's legal. Let's not judge her, or label her, or make her life more difficult. She may end up getting evicted from wherever she lives as a result for fear of her "running a common bawdy house." There is no reason to drag her into this any more than she already has been by Ford's staffers or the ITO because some jerks (pun intended) get their jollies or because screaming "hooker" headlines sell papers.

There is much evidence!

You/ we are just not going to find it printed on a public, online forum!

Same thing was done back in May when the star/gawker story first hit. Several of his staff resigned/ fired and those that remained were bought off with raises, for their silence one would presume!

So much for cutting the gravy.....more like mixing a whole new batch!

PS. How does David Price's position pay 130k/ year when the going salary is 70K, according to the ITO interviews of staff?

She's a really good looking girl. I doubt she needs to work as an escort for dough.
I'm pretty sure every escort uses a name that is not even close to their real name, so searching "alana kindree" or whatever in google is pointless. I'd put my house on her not being an escort. That doesn't mean there weren't any other girls around though, who knows?

I really hope she got paid something for her trouble. I'm not even talking about sex, just for having to hang around Ford during one of his stupors.

On the flip side, Ford didn't originally pay his staffers very much, and according to the National Post (IIRC), some were living from paycheck to paycheck, which made it hard for them to quit.

Mr. Christopoulos said that after several staffers resigned following reports about the alleged crack video, “the Mayor offered the remaining staff members more money to stay in the office. Everyone’s salaries went up a substantial amount.” Mr. Fickel said he received a $15,000 raise, bringing his annual salary up to $50,000. “The Mayor approached everyone in the office individually and said something like, ‘thanks for staying around. I am going to give you a raise.’ The Mayor did not say ‘this is a raise so that you will stay at the office.’”

Have to wonder how staffers making about $35K/year felt about Ford's personal family friend David Price getting $130K/year to do a $65K/year job. Oh, we don't have to wonder, since the ITO states they weren't too happy about it.

Seems like Ford doesn't treat his staffers very well until he gets desperate. Sort of the same relationship he has with "telling the truth".
