McConnell will be reelected in October 2014, whereas Ford will be turfed by the voters. McConnell is a household name in my part of town.

Pam McConnell is my counsellor. I am sending her a note letting her know she has my support, as always.

"The little council woman"??? Oh c'mon. Really? Do you not even live in TO or something? She's a downtown councillor and has been for 20 years.

Really.
I don't live downtown. She's not my council member. 20 years goes by in a flash when you spend most of your time working and taking care of family. And until recently, Toronto council was not being run by a red & sweaty, pratfall-taking, Chris Farley impersonator.

People have lives is all I'm sayin'. Fyi, you don't have to live in T.O. to vote here.

Edited for spelling/typo.

And THAT is exactly what pisses a lot of people off outside of Toronto because we get cops, firefighters etc asking for "retention bonuses". If I was a sitting politician in town I'd tell them to "pound sand" because cost of living here is considerably different than Toronto, unfortunately our politicians tend to cave. If a cop wants Toronto $$ from KW fine, go work in Toronto, have a merry time dealing with a much harsher work environment with a much higher cost of living.

I understand and agree with you.

Retention, Recognition ( TTC calls it "Red Rocket" ) bonus started in Toronto. But, through arbitration spread across the province.

Guys from out-of-town who want to work in Toronto have no idea of the Call Volume and the toll it takes on you. Also the challenges of worker in a horizontal city. I don't mean the modern buildings, I mean the old houses built over ravines.

I know Toronto Paramedics used to have the highest Unit Hour Utilization ( UHU ) in North America, but I digress...

I should add that we also had a Residency Requirement when I hired on with the City ( Metro, as it was known then. ).

Will Rob and Doug be sharing the podium at tonight's debate?

At city hall, council's budget committee is meeting. Cllr Doug Ford, the committee's vice chair, is not present.

I didn't see the R Ford's "bullying" of McConnell only read about it in the aftermath, however I would suppose it is available on the Rogers feed is it not? What are the chances of McConnell going to to a JP and swearing out a warrant of private prosecution charging R Ford with assault...

And your rudeness and lack of empathy make you look like a stone-cold jack-ass.
Next. Time. I'll. Write. In. Short. Sentences. Just. So. You. Can. Understand.

My reading comprehension is just fine thanks. What you need to understand, is that if the main theme of the Rob Ford saga is that you feel sorry for him...it's time to check yourself.

And if you don't like your posts criticized...don't post them. And if you'd been around here long enough, you'd know I see name-calling as proof of your weak position.

It's only left coasters that bear a grudge on Toronto's preeminence, the people down east are cool with it.

"There's plenty of doctorin' and lawyerin' jobs in Toronto."

She could call one of those ambulance chasers - "legal specialists" - that advertise on CP24 with the gold buyers. I believe she was quoted on UT as saying she still goes to physio?

If / when the next councillor / reporter or civilian gets bowled over, best advice is to go down, and stay down for the count.

The two-hour debate begins tonight at 5:00 PM. For coverage of what a great job Ford did, tune in to Joe Warmington's column at 4:00 PM.

Nothing... if not inconsistent.

Catching the end of Rob Ford on Warmington's 1010 show: "They're just screwing this poor guy around," he says (about Bob Deluce?).

Ford then responds to a question about BMO Field, saying he doesn't "believe in subsidizing a billion-dollar corporation."
At some of the council meetings I have watched, Ford whines and stamps his feet when council votes contrary to staff recommendations. He says, why pay for staff if we aren't going to listen to them. What he really means is don't vote for things that are contrary to HIS opinion. Staff is saying go slowly on the jet proposal and I saw a quote from the City Manager that the BMO field deal was a 'win-win'.

I was thinking of yesterday's incident rather than the previous....I would think a decent case could be made she feared for her safety based on past precedent...

What's with the recent grumpiness/snarkiness? Are people getting anxious, just like Ford, because the hammer could drop any day?

One thing I have appreciated about UT is that it is a relatively polite forum.

It would be good for everyone to take a breath before posting. Check to make sure that there is no projection, ask questions to clarify instead (eg: did you mean x when you wrote y?) Also let's make sure we are not taking things personally.

Calling someone names, like jack ass or co-dependent, is a bullying tactic. It is a way to win an argument, not have a meaningful dialogue.

Let's not sink to RoFo's level of communication.

Yeah, from what I read with the field deal MLSE is going to pay back the money and sports fans get a better place to watch games. With Porter they wouldn't be paying anything back, just asking for money, and doing a lot of possible damage to the harbourfront.

Maybe she has PTSD? One of the symptoms is avoidance, and she appears to be doing that when he is near.

If not truly hurt, just do the soccer thing. Roll around on the floor clutching a body part and groaning and hope that Ford is gets the red card.
