More reporting on the Mammo incubated Adult Entertainment Association of Canada by Anne Hui via the Globe: Let strip clubs also operate as brothels, owners propose

...Valentina, a dancer of five years who asked for her real name to be withheld...[pointed to the rise in body-rub parlours, as well as the Internet sex trade, as reasons why clubs are struggling financially – and why the AEAC is pursuing its proposal...
Still, AEAC director Tim Lambrinos said Thursday that the purpose is not to turn dancers into prostitutes. “The objective is to save their jobs,” he said. “If we take on the role of enhanced services, we can control that type of party atmosphere.”

I knew this was coming and it pisses me off way more than it should. Once again, he is ducking out of answering questions and being an adult about this situation.

So who is going to write his speech, Mama?

Edit: Just saw this on the I hate the war on Rob Ford fb page:

Starting to hear rumours that the City Hall press gallery is conspiring to boycott Mayor Ford's return press conference Monday afternoon at 3pm.

I hope there is truth to this!

The populist got a bit of a minor dilemma though - what would a populist do when 2/3 of the population calls for your head?

AoD

What would a populist do?

In the case of populist Louisiana governor Huey Long, get shot and killed. Keep the legend alive, and all that.

In RoFo’s case, there are probably a few people who would happily oblige, including maybe some of his old homies from Dixon (or his family), but I could hardly blame him for rejecting that option.

Have a come-to-Purple-Jesus moment and resign?

Maybe that’s a bit too logical. 2/3 of the people don’t want him in the mayor’s job anymore. *He* doesn’t want the job anymore. It only offers him a wavering narcissistic supply and postpones the FoFam showdown that will come when he finally gets turfed out.

Who or what is *really* keeping Rob in the mayor chair? MoFo and DoFo.

Note to Sublime: thanks for the dots! :)

You can retire with an unreduced pension when your age plus years of service equal 80. Your pension is "maxed-out" at 70 per cent after 35 years of service. ie: You can not increase it.

Reasons to stay on the job after 35 years could include a sense of civic duty, overtime ( which is not included in OMERS ) or a promotion ( which would increase your retirement earnings ).

Without knowing the age or years of service of a member, it is impossible to calculate a pension. But, this explains the formula:

"OMERS Supplemental Pension Plan for Police, Firefighters and Paramedics"

this is from december 2010...

Now in the home stretch of his policing career — he can retire with a full pension in three years — Giroux acknowledges the wearying aspects of the job.

Too many girls giving "enhanced services" away for free?

Doesn't say if that is the 30-year unreduced aka "full" pension, or the 35-year maximum pension.

Probably not free, but they're not getting their cut. Why does the word pimp come to mind?

Councillors Get Their Environmental Report Cards

The non-profit Toronto Environmental Alliance today released its City Council Enviro Report Card, and while 16 councillors received failing grades for their work over the past four years, the environmental dunce cap went to Mayor Rob Ford, who finished at the bottom of the class.

The TEA evaluated council members based on their voting record on 31 key environmental issues. There’s no gentle bell curve in the results—17 members of council received top marks for their environmental efforts and 17 members (including Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly) failed, leaving just nine councillors in the A-to-D range. The average grade was a disheartening C+.

Unsurprisingly, Ford’s aggressive brand of underachievement saw him land on the friendly side of environmental issues just 13 per cent of the time. “Torontonians should be profoundly disappointed with how Mayor Ford did,†says TEA executive director Franz Hartmann. “His leadership on helping improve Toronto’s environment was absolutely non-existent.â€

The report also shows a disparity between the priorities of suburban and Old Toronto councillors. Suburban councillors, along with suburban champion Ford, accounted for 15 of the 17 failing grades handed out. Top scores were apportioned more evenly, although councillors in the old city received the bulk of them. Encouragingly, council newcomer Peter Leon (Ward 3, Etobicoke Centre), who in October 2013 filled the seat left vacant by MPP Doug Holyday, received a perfect score for the six environmental policy votes in which he participated.

According to Jackie Crandles, Dan Jacobs sent an email to every councillor today from Rob Ford inviting them to an "informal" meeting in his office on Monday afternoon, because he feels an "important part of resuming his duties" is "hearing directly from them". The email blathered on about Ford wanting to work collaboratively and constructively with them upon his return...

Ugh.
