i just did a forum research telephone poll (yes, on my landline)

there were some stunning questions

"have you heard of olivia chow?" press 1 for yes, press 2 for no

"do you approve or disapprove of olivia chow?" press 1 for approve, press 2 for disapprove

they asked this same pair of questions for chow, tory, soknacki, and stintz

they also asked if i approve/disapprove of rob ford, but, amazingly, did not bother to ask if i had heard of him

"will you vote for ford no matter what?" press 1 for yes, press 2 for no

"should ford resign?" press 1 for yes, press 2 for no

gee, i wonder who commissioned this poll?

i dunno... every native torontonian i've met says t'ronno.

Politically incorrect I know, but I still call it Metro. When I was in school, we called it "Etobicoke". I seldom heard it called Toronto until recent years. I never really learned how to pronounce Toronto properly.

But, I did meet Johnny Cash once, and he said, "Toe Ron Toe". Sort of like that. Cool or what, eh?!

I ignored a call not too long ago, which was probably the same thing.

EDIT:

And there was another call I ignored.

HA! Who is the dude with the "fucked up" face? That photo was posted two hours ago. Two days ago, the same dude posted this:

I grew up here, moved away for a while and am now back. I've always pronounced it with all three syllables, but then again, I'm a language and grammar nerd.

Haha - well I use three syllables too, I'm just not big on enunciating the second "T" quite as harshly as some do - the ones who seem to be saying it for the first time (even if they aren't). Certain late night hosts come to mind, but most do a pretty good job. I think the t's in there (my pronunciation), but it's pretty subtle. Because, not perfect. :)
