This Mammo thing really shows the biggest problem with our system. You can break election rules and there really is no consequences. It seems like it's the honor system but when you have people with no honor than what's the point.

If Tory wants to impress me he would actually but concrete rules into this and not just talk about "culture change" like the previous guy did. If Tory wantd to be serious about it he wouldn't have given mammo ELEVEN board spots (making Mammo a top five councilor in number of board spots)

An absolute joke.

Indeed. Mammoliti committed these offences 4 years ago, and the system had to give a verdict only AFTER the election. And after all this time, they decided that he only has to repay a small part of the money he pocketed.

Mammo has yet to face the music on that one - yesterday's smack on the wrist was over-running a campaign allowance.

I thought council had dealt with the fund raiser by imposing the fine of 3 months salary. They passed it over to the cops, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for criminal charges.

Hard to keep track

We as taxpayers are paying for the first $20,000 of Mammo legal fees. Personally I think his constituencies should be footing that bill.

We can call it "You elected a f*ckin corrupt a**hole tax" 6816 people voted for him. They can all pay a $3 tax. Even though that doesn't seem to be a lot so many of them think any tax is such a horrible thing that it might force them to take a second look at the stupid decision they make on election day

How much of a tax would ridings that elected the Provincial Liberals have to pay?

We all have to pay for the stupidity of the few. That's just the way it works.

Yes, we all remember Harris and his PCs and the burdens placed on us, especially Toronto. Anyway, why do people try to divert attention by bringing up another level of government. We are dealing with non-partisan Toronto politics not disillusioned Conservatives and their FUD.

I like the idea of direct action democracy, people either get smarter from experience or in a cult that drinks the kool aid.
