Funny that...but I was impressed that he takes the train.
I live on that line and have been told by my MPP that they do not take the train because of the limited schedule (Editorial note.that had not led them to stand up once in the house and speak for expansion of that service)....I honestly was pleasantly surprised that a member of Ford's inner staff actually uses public transit to get to work.
Not to start any sort of wild speculation, but there are other (legal?) reasons where one may not have the option of getting in a car and driving to work, even if they wanted to. Might explain his frustration.

Makes it sound a little too easy. I don't expect the landslide that this opinion piece is alluding to, but I am genuinely curious as to what Ford's concession speach is going to sound like. Rather, what faction of people he will blame for his defeat. Will it be the influx of his supporters in Etobicoke in to condos in downtown ridings, and how their votes are now drowned out by the "looney left"? Hmmm...

The 7:41 he was trying to get on gets him to Union at 8:48 ...twelve minutes to walk/subway to Queen...doable. He was forced on (in the incident noted in the article) to the 8:03 which gets him to union at 9:08....maybe he was angry because he hates being late!

The last train that goes to GT leaves at 5:45 pm. There is one on that line at 6:50 pm that goes to the NW part of Brampton and he can continue by GO bus from there.

That said, are you implying the only reason that someone would ever use public transit is because of some legal (I assume you are suggesting a drunk driving conviction) reason? We would be better, then, if the Premier's new panel just suggested diverting transit funding to fighting the scourge that is drunk driving!

It comes off less tongue-and-cheek than I was intending it to, but my line of thought was that if someone is a well-seasoned transit rider they would probably be used to things like missing their GO train by now. His fits of rage implies (in my head) that he is new to this and doesn't have a choice. Wild speculation on my part, indeed!

But the article clearly says he is not new to this....he is regularly seen there...and often angry....so while he is someone who appears to be struggling with anger issues...he is not new to transit. Most angry people at GO stations are because they miss trains....and, as I said, this is exacerbated on the non-lakeshore lines were being 1 minute late can make you hours/days late.
In this case (and, as I said, I have seen this in others) the anger is magnified likely because he actually was not late for his train but a presto failure made him late.
I have no reason to defend this guy and it does seem like he has issues. That said there are actually two kinda positive things to see here:
1. he uses transit and
2. when presto failed (as it does sometimes) rather than get on and try and ride for free (as many do/would) he tried to get it fixed.
No reason to get all abusive but he ain't alone...trust me.

I know his mode of commute was not the main issue...and I apologize for the sidetrack...I just found it interesting that a member of Ford's inner circle (given what the general perception of the "regime" is around SUVs and transit and all) uses transit....lots don't out there because the line is so restrictive.

I am willing to put large sums of money and perhaps my firstborn down that he will blame the media parasites at the Star, Globe, etc. The pinkos will certainly get a mention, but it's Daniel Dale and his merry band of socialists that will earn the vast majority of the Ford rage.

...Surette, the owner of the Trackside Café inside Georgetown GO station, witnessed the incident, and said Price came into the station and spoke to the GO employee on duty because his Presto card wouldn’t work.
I think that's what he was referring to. Plucked from the middle of the article.
