I know MetroMan ain't infallible, but he stated on here quite recently that Ford was caught on a wiretap soliciting drugs, and he seemed pretty certain about the source. So where do these wiretaps enter the picture? Were they part of Traveler? If so - and if Traveler is over as evvabeing suggests (he's probably right) - then the question becomes if/when they act on that evidence after the fact. Not sure how that works.

Also remember that a lot of information was redacted. We don't know what interesting details were not made public.

Pat responses about sloppy investigations and or biases on behalf of the police are not enough to explain the delay in gathering evidence of a case of this magnitude. Please keep that in mind before coming here with crackpot theories about police incompetence.

That would be called "giving benefit of the doubt", and most here would rather not. Case in point: expecting the video recovery to be quick and easy, expecting arrests to be made based on the cops seeing envelopes change hands, expecting X number of other things based on a 5 second evaluation at the surface level.

But thanks for putting it out there... we may turn the tide yet...

yes... and project brazen 2, as it stands, was botched when it comes to the mayor... unless there's another project we don't know about yet.

I see you've learned to repeat what Clayton Ruby says

EDIT: So I just found this -

question...

is it possible that the police probe wasn't botched? without knowing more i'm inclined to agree with ruby. but, is it possible that there's another project whatever that is going on, or went on, that covered all the times rob was "left to run"? i.e. was / is there another surveillance team specifically following rob? and would or could they then be a separate project?

"Without knowing more..." - that's exactly your problem. Maybe take the time to learn and know more before you draw conclusions. If you don't understand that there are a tonne of projects currently ongoing by the police that you have no clue about, then you clearly don't understand how the police work and should probably take a few steps back.

Did you have any clue that he and lisi were being surveilled back in August? No? Doesn't that make you stop and think for two seconds? Do you think they'd be able to make arrests or complete sting operations if it was easy to figure out what they're up to?

Evva, pay no attention to what Ruby had to say. Blair's spokesthingy was right—he's just injecting himself into the story to get some attention. Though I often like him, on this point Ruby has no basis to say what he is saying. Maybe he's just bitter that his own quixotic legal campaign did not bring down this regime, while the TPS investigation is bearing fruit.

If Blair had so obviously, intentionally, "botched" this effort, after staking his reputation publicly on how unbiased and fair the investigation is, he would have to know it would come out eventually and make him look bad. Makes no sense. He would just "quietly" botch it instead, rather than be so public.

The freakiest development yet is how the Ford camp and their two-bit Saul Goodman Hotmail shyster have decided to go to war against Blair. NOT GOOD for the city, on so many levels. The Fords of course are putting their own petty vendettas ahead of what's good for Toronto. As always.

people with active twitter accounts should start tweeting something to bring the press' attention to this being a global disgrace for the city of toronto; with how sensitive torontonians are to the city's reputation, a campaign framed that way would put things in perspective in a way that the circus doesn't, probably the quickest way to impeachment or whatever

Without catching him exchanging the drugs or later in their possession, the police can't charge him. I'm confident that the wiretap exists and we may soon see the transcripts. I support the police but I confess that I'm cynical about them missing so many opportunities to bust Ford in the act given how many documented times he met Lisi for that purpose.

As the FOI requests start to trickle out of Ford's office, the drip, drip, drip of information will continue over the next few weeks. We still have the wiretaps from Project Traveller and the 2nd part of Lisi's warrant to come, and TPS wants to interview Ford. I can't believe Ford thinks he can survive this.

They said under 18; that's not illegal

Disgusting, given that it's Rob Ford, but not illegal.

That's actually not true. If it was filmed, it's child pornography. In Canada the rules aren't "under 18," it's having the appearance of being "under 18". It could be a 25 year old, but if she's dressed like a child, it's illegal. I'm not sure about the actual act though, but the video of it, absolutely illegal.

If they have the wiretaps and the surveillance, then they had enough to arrest him.

My gut feeling is that there is still something going on and that he is going to be arrested for something far bigger. That's the only explanation that I can come up with for why they didn't bust him for buying drugs from Lisi (well, other than being corrupt). But I'm giving Blair the benefit of the doubt because I don't think he would have been as vocal as he was yesterday if this was the end of things. It would make TPS look very bad.

Keep in mind that there are nearly 200 pages worth of redacted info in the Lisi document, plus more traveler stuff... and the unprecedented Hashimi plea deal.

I think it's too early to yell corruption, as I think we've only got about 20% of the story so far. Lots more to come I'm sure.

I was thinking of the act itself, not the filming of it. You're right, filming of under 18 is illegal.
