I think whatever Deco has achieved in financial terms since the death of Doug Sr has been in spite of Rob Ford. He has said that his work there is limited to reviewing the books for five hours a week at most. That suggest someone else is doing the bulk of the bookkeeping, or it's being overlooked entirely and the company is managing to (appear to) do well through sheer luck.

Either Robbie's "skills" were not trusted, and Robbie had no real inpact on the success(?) of the company, or he single handedly increased the success of the company.

Simple, either he is a financial idiot, or he is inventing "maths" for the reasons of misleading the voter for his, and/or Dougie's, own agenda. Both ways shows , at best, disrespect towards the voter.

Mammo is the personal whipping boy for the Ford's. And a failure to be a distraction away from the Ford's follies, especially cancelling Christmas for hundreds of thousands.

so the new complaint against Rob Ford brought by a Ray Fredette a union member in the Liberal funded catholic teachers union.

Rob Ford's "financial book-reviewing" CFO activities at Deco were typical of a family member who doesn't actually do anything of consequence, but has to spend some time at the offices of the family-owned business in order to justify paying a salary to that family member. It's been stated that Rob isn't active in the company because he doesn't have a "passion for labels", but the Ford family has shown that they take care of their own, so he's on the payroll and that has to be justified in case of CRA audit. I don't think Rob does anything of importance at Deco. (That's likely one of the reasons Rob wants / needs to stay mayor - football coaching is now out of the question, and no one including Rob wants Rob's involvement at Deco - what does Rob do if he's no longer at City Hall?)

I'd be curious how Deco is doing in Doug's absence. It's been stated that Doug, more than any family member, drove Deco's expansion into the USA. I agree that Doug's antics at City Hall aren't befitting of a Councillor, but his public persona reminds me of some successful businessmen that I've worked for. It's often not pleasant, but it often is pleasant too (with whom does Gord Perks take smoke breaks, for example?), and it's often successful. It's not successful in City Hall, where conciliation and persuasion are necessary, but a guy with drive, some charm, and who's a bit of a bully when necessary can be very successful in a private business. Well, Doug is running Rob's life and his campaign, as well as doing whatever in Ward 2 - who's minding the family business? And how is Deco doing?

Write a memoir and do a lecture series, that's quite popular for politicians who are retired, or have no useful skills for an after life.

Deco could definately be the reason for Dougie not running again, and we know of his provincial aspirations. Ward 2 could have been just a means to an end, first to control Robbie from a close position (and that's been a failure), and as a stepping stone for running in the Etobecoke North riding that Dougie says that Hudak has been keeoing open for him.

Quite likely - recall the Don Cherry speech.

Or Doug's recent "we need to get streetcars off the streets" thing. Its nothing but trolling. Completely random, stupid, never going to happen, "pro-car", "anti-people", all of that--but it's designed for one thing only--to wind his enemies up. I really believe we give these guys way too much credit if we look at them through the prism of political ideology. They're trolling city politics, and sadly, Toronto made the mistake of feeding them. Now they won't stop.

This all became crystal clear on the day that Council stripped Ford of his powers, with Doug and Rob marauding around the Chamber like drunken Visigoths, berating and verbally attacking spectators, knocking over Pam McDonnell, screaming and yelling--and loving every minute of it.

Trolls are driven, at least in part, by a desire to feel important. One way to accomplish this – a healthy way – is to do something worthwhile. Another more trollish way is to tear down someone or something who is already respected. Doing that certainly gets you noticed.

All by itself, the desire to be respected and acknowledged is not necessarily unhealthy. In fact, it's a pretty basic human need. But in trolls, this need manifests in very unhealthy ways. To a troll, any form of attention – even anger or fear or hatred – seems better than no attention at all. Besides, emotions such as anger, fear, and hatred are very powerful emotions. If a troll can evoke something this powerful in others, it must mean the troll is pretty powerful too, no?

To a troll, reality has very little objective meaning. What matters, perhaps to the exclusion of all else, is the troll's perception of reality, and the amount of feedback the troll gets from other people. If a respected institution or individual is suddenly seen as being little better than the troll, this lifts the troll's self-image. So tearing down respected people and respectable activities and institutions is a favorite trollish pastime.*

wow, a troll who support troll politicians.

We hear complaints as to how UT leans left, how other voices are drowned out, yadda yadda. But most of the few Ford fans aren't exactly articulate, thought-provoking, and civil. The best Ford arguments are from those playing devil's advocates or trying to get in the heads of the "Ford Nation" types.
