I predict that indigo is going to locate in the two level anchor space across from Uniqlo. They will probably close the older Rathburn Chapters as that land is zoned for high density residential and office space.

indigo is doing these kind of moves at both Burlington Mall (in a former target space) and Fairview Mall (in a former Sears space). While closing older older Chapters stores nearby.

Indigo/Chapters also moved from a freestanding location on The Queensway in Etobicoke, into a similar sized location at Sherway Mall. For the presentation to City Council in Mississauga, the display boards showed Indigo signage on the outside wall of the old Target location. The space beside the Rec Room has been reserved for someone, as it is marked "Proposed" and opposed to the other designation of "Unassigned"

Three new locations in the GTA this year seems like a pretty enthusiastic expansion, especially with two of them being in York Region

Well it seems it's a partnership with Ivanhoe Cambridge. Square One is owned by Oxford. So I'm gonna go with no.

The first one is at an Ivanhoe Cambridge property. There's nothing preventing another location opening at an Oxford property - and the article does make mention of more locations being discussed.

From the way I interpreted it, they have partnered with Ivanhoe Cambridge in Canada and are looking for more partners outside of Canada. However within Canada they would be opening in other Ivanhoe Cambridge properties.

From the first paragraph:

Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group plans to open its first family entertainment centre inside a mall in the greater Toronto area in September 2019, in a partnership deal with real estate firm Ivanhoé Cambridge. Discussions are ongoing for additional locations in Canada, the entertainment company said Wednesday. It’s also talking with other partners for sites outside the country.

The Financial Post and some other outlets aren't tying the two in the same way:

"The company partnered with real estate giant Ivanhoe Cambridge to open the first indoor centre in the Greater Toronto Area in September 2019"

If this is only phase 1 of the 580 million west expansion, I can only imagine what phase 2/3 will look like. Last year, my contact at city hall did say that they working hard to convince SQ1 to redevelop this side of the mall because of Sheridan College.

SQUARE ONE SHOPPING CENTRE — Construction on the Square One Shopping Centre West Expansion Phase 1 is underway in Mississauga Ont. The $580-million redevelopment is slated to open in November.

TORONTO — Construction is well underway on the Square One shopping centre West Expansion development project in Mississauga, Ont., which will open this November.

The 2.2-million-square-foot retail destination’s $580-million redevelopment is one of the most ambitious projects of its kind in North America, states a release issued by Square One Shopping Centre.

The expansion boasts the arrival of major retailers, The Rec Room, the country’s newest hot-spot for “eats and entertainment” and The Food District, opening in spring 2019, which will offer over 34,000-square-feet of specialty products as well as a space to meet, adds the release. Square One is managed by Oxford Properties.

“In the coming months, we will reveal more details surrounding the West Expansion,” said Square One director and general manager Greg Taylor, in a statement.

“Square One continues to be a premier location for world-class retailers and for the discerning consumer. The Food District will provide an inspired, fulfilling and unforgettable experience for food lovers and adventurers in a setting that encourages discovery, community, and culinary indulgence.”
