Marks is generally not a mall-formatted type of store. However, given the amount of new space Square One has to fill now, I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility.

Marks wants access to mall customers and is going through a transformation. They are using the relationships that Sport Chek has built with mall owners to find space and move inside from big box locations.
 
Old Navy is opening in their new location on Thursday.

Richtree has closed their old location so it should be a few days before the new location is opened as well.
 
With Old Navy in their new location and Moxie's closed, that corridor will be block off in the coming weeks to the court area. Baskin-Robbins is being reno. A new store L' Occtane from France is under construction [FONT=arial, sans-serif]in the centre corridor. Another nail place has open in the old sewing place. [/FONT]

[FONT=arial, sans-serif]Looks like early Nov before the new Moxie's open that will have small outside patio that can be used year round by the looks of it.[/FONT]

[FONT=arial, sans-serif]With Richtree close, that area will be horded up shortly for building 4 more stores and closing the walk through area. Hard to say if Richtree will open in [/FONT][FONT=arial, sans-serif]their[/FONT][FONT=arial, sans-serif] new location this week.[/FONT]
 
Harry Rosen may be relocating to the new 'luxury' wing beside Holt Renfrew. The newer expanded location will have a 'street front' entrance with large windows. Square One is looking to add really high end tenants to this area of the mall including Tiffany's and possibly Dior.

It would be pretty shocking if Dior opened their first Toronto area store in SquareOne.

I've only been to SquareOne a few times - but compared to Yorkdale the layout is crazy convoluted and the new additions don't seem to help.
 
I will be very surprise to see Forever 21 open this month base on what I saw today. It will be more like the 1st or 2nd week of Dec

Peel Police has set up a larger place than before with their logo on the doors and Police on the front wall.

More new Sq One signs going up over various entrance.

A new entrance going into the existing court yard where Sears was.

Moxie's is near ready to open with work still taking place on the patio.
 
I was passing through the mall at 9:30 am on Monday and wasn't sure if it had open or was in training stage.

As of Sat, most of the patio is finish.

I see Booster Juice is open, but the rest still haven't open up yet.

A number of stores being remodel and will open later this month or early Dec.

Birks was open on Oct 30 when I was last there

As of Nov15, Richtree will not be open until December. Will be surprised to see it open earlier than that with the amount of construction that still needs to take place from what I saw of it.

It's always been a difficult-to-really-like mall. It doesn't look much more appealing yet.

Its architecture is still plainer than its peers like the Eaton Centre, Yorkdale and Sherway Gardens. I think Mississauga could support a second mall that's more upscale.

mississauga is a predominately middle class area, and once the new expansion is done with a new "upscale" wing anchored by Holts and larger Harry Rosen, plus the expansion in Sherway which borders on Mississauga. It will cost a billion plus to open a new mall, or more no one is taking in that debt with all these malls renovating/expanding plus the outlets.

Square one has also opened up a valet, free if you have an Avion card. I have one but live within walking distance.

The new Richtree natural market will open in approx 2 weeks. The week of the 7th.

Not to suggest that there will be a competitor mall in Mississauga for SQ1 to worry about but debt is not the reason.....most malls (8 of the largest 10 enclosed shopping centres in Canada for example) are owned by pension funds and they don't use a lot of debt in their real estate portfolios. It may actually be 9 of the top 10 but number 7 (the Bramalea City Centre) is listed as a Morguard asset and it is not clear if that is a direct ownership by Morguard or part of the billions of assets they manage for pension funds.

There have been past attempts in Mississauga to try and ease some shoppers out of SQ1 and they have largely failed. No reason to think that is changing in the future.

I don't think there is much by the way of competitor malls in Mississauga (Erin Mills would even come close, post reno) - Sherway is a bit too far away to draw customers away. Heartland TC is probably competing for some of the same dollars though, but I think the plex has lost some steam of late (to the new Simons outlet in Halton Hills, perhaps).

I didn't say there were competitors but there have been attempts in the past to be. Erin Mills opened in 1989 and it was supposed to be such a competitor.....it did not go well and retailers, and customers, continued to gravitate to SQ1 and it has continually expanded since the mid80s to what it is today.

No matter how big 'sauga gets....SQ1 will be the dominant shopping destination.
