Has anyone seen the episode of United Shades of America that W Kamau Bell had partly shot at the St Lawrence? He came and contrasted the social climate in the USA with us.

Great news about more heritage lighting of buildings coming to the St Lawrence area in next few months.
1. The City has awarded a contract for lighting (including heritage lighting) of St Lawrence Market
2. s 37 funds are being allocated to properly light St James Cathedral (with the Anglican church and in conjunction with the St James Park upgrade.
3. s. 37 funds are being allocated to design heritage lighting on the Young Peoples Theatre building.
These 2 motions coming to Council next week.
MM44.12 Authorization to Release Section 37 Funds from the Development at 25 Richmond Street East for Heritage Lighting for St. James Cathedral - by Councillor Lucy Troisi, seconded by Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam (Ward 28)

Curious about this, too. The space has now been totally cleaned out and the signs in the window have been changed to "leased". No building permits as of yet.

The large restaurant space on the corner of The Esplanade and Market Street (formerly Pastizza and Cresta) has been leased. It will be home to the second location of Cirillo's Academy, a culinary school that's been operating on Dundas for nearly a decade.

Is the BIA or Toronto Hydro responsible for the heritage street lamps along Front? Those in the median and along the south side of the street between Church and Jarvis have been dark for weeks. I also noticed tonight that all the trees along the nothing-happening-here site for the north market are surrounded by huge weeds (similar to the lot itself). Again, BIA or the city?

The St Lawrence BIA neither owns nor maintains any of the streetlights in their area. All are the responsibility of Toronto Hydro Street Lighting. You are right that these have been out for weeks (and have been reported). Maybe the more reports the better (Call THSL at (416) 542-3195,) but the problem is clearly more serious than bulbs out and MAY be connected to the major Hydro problem just west of Church where they are currently changing all the wiring for everything.

The mediation on the St Lawrence Heritage Conservation District Plan has concluded and there will be a hearing at the LPAT on November 12-29, 2019. It is not in effect, yet.

The former "coal fired pizza' place at corner of Front & George seems to be being prepared to re-open as a Chez Cora.
