Taken this morning on Adelaide between Bay and York St.s. It was being tested.

That must be the first streetcar on this section of Adelaide for about 30 years! (I moved to Toronto in 2002 and it had clearly not been used for many years before thet.

Steve Munro reports that the 501 will use Adelaide and Richmond 'from mid-November" .

For accuracy, the TTC posted a new notice (there are four at last count) listing the Church/King/Spadina diversion as running to "mid November". The previous date was "November 3".
Notice saying Nov 3: https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisories/Service-Changes/501-301-Streetcar-diversion-due-to-track-work
Notice saying "Mid November": https://www.ttc.ca/service-advisori...1-301-Diversion-due-to-track-work-Oct-8-to-15
Note that the URL for the mid-November notice does not match the actual content. They have recycled an old page.
The next schedule change is on Sunday, November 17, although nothing would prevent streetcars from taking up their route via Richmond/Adelaide sooner. The 501 Queen bus shuttle is operated with Route 600 RAD buses, and so they could be taken off at any time.

I'm puzzled how those service announcements jibe with their tweet this afternoon about detouring until November 3.

Or TTC's tweet this afternoon about November 3.

(seems odd that at best it's about 2 weeks and perhaps 5 weeks after running test cars ... I've seen test cars to service restoration in hours - though perhaps not on as extensive project as this)

No sign of any STOP signage on Adelaide/Richmond/York yet. No doubt the "Signage Silo at TTC is unaware of this new route so there will be none for months but .....

Yes, it will be interesting to see if they put a stop westbound on Richmond at York. I'm guessing they will stick with the one around the corner at Queen, though that's less convenient for me so I will be miffed!

I'm also interested to see how the transit signals will actually work at York and Adelaide, and whether they have gone the typical route of making their green time the lowest priority.

If anyone at TTC or Transportation reads this thread they may be saying "Why weren't we told about this project?" about now.

TTCHelps confirmed earlier this morning that "mid November" is the correct date.
