Owners of Beach clothing store that had to close two weeks after opening now busy making masks for Michael Garron Hospital

The owners of recently opened Beach business UKDESIGNERSALE are busy doing their part to help the Michael Garron Hospital’s drive for donated fabric masks.

The store opened its doors on March 1 on Queen Street East, and two weeks later had to close due to the ordered shut down of many businesses to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The store sells unique clothing imported from the United Kingdom.

Once the closure happened, store owners Teresa and Clem D’Souza immediately started making fabric masks for the hospital.

Fox theatre ‘seat sale’ helps raise funds during COVID-19 crisis

To help keep the community engaged and to ensure the Fox will still be in business once the virus restrictions are lifted, a fundraising campaign was started by the theatre.

For $150, plus taxes, customers were able to purchase a plaque with their name on it to be put on seats at the historic theatre.

The Fox posted information about the sale on their website and the community quickly showed its support.

By Tuesday April 7, all 251 seats were sold with the exception of one which will be auctioned off at a later date. The seat sale was meant for customers to own naming rights to a seat in the theatre, or it could be dedicated under the name of a loved one.

I quite like this older apartment building on Lee Ave, just south of the Coles bookstore:

Some homes on Beech Ave. I'll always be a Davenportonian at heart. But if those 7 numbers for the Lotto Max cooperate then I'd gladly sell out and throw a couple million for a house here.

I would have words with that crew, were it my job to do so.............they are severely compacting the soil with both their vehicles and the supplies. That's fine on the drive-way/walkway portion, but not the rest.
