What gets me about some neighborhoods is the number of sidewalks not shovelled. Those are dangerous too.

And the kicker is that these are all city-maintained paths, which were cleared to standard. It’s fine when the temperatures are consistent, but when it gets warm, this is what happens. They’re probably sick of seeing 311 reports on these same areas every year, but these conditions are downright dangerous.

My sidewalk is basically impossible to keep ice free at the moment for a few reasons.
1. Its along the south side of the street and receives zero sunlight in the winter.
2. The alley's runoff enters the c&g at the east end of my lot, and the CB is at the corner at the west end of my lot, meaning there is a substantial flow of water in front of my house during warm spells like this.
3. The COE ploughed the street and left a 5 foot high windrow in front of my house in the C&G (and half the sidewalk as well), meaning the flow of water that usually remains on the road is now pooling up on the sidewalk as a very large puddle, and slowly flowing down the sidewalk towards the CB.
Neighbours on the north side of the street have no windrow, and basically no snow at this point. Lucky SOB's haha. I do my best putting down traction gravel and salt sometimes. But There is a small babbling brook running down my sidewalk during the day which then freezes at night. Not much I can do.

This morning.
Like the promenade on the north side of river, this is meant to be one of the city's signature walks and best views on the south along Sask Drive. It needs to be clear and safe - but again, snow pushed off the road and stored along shared use path ends up causing havoc for people walking.
