Not really to the extent of driving throug the middle of multiple 200+m tall skyscrapers. Those cities highways have views of the skyline, they don't run right through it.

Incredible. The drive through the Southcore on the Gardiner is already breathtaking. It's hard to imagine all the things that are still to come, especially along the south side.

what's cool will be seeing a huge stretch of the gardiner covered in the shadows cast by these towers. (you can already see the effect in the photo)

Portland? SF? Seattle? Vancouver? Mtl? etc

No, I was just in three of those cities over the last few weeks. San Franciscio is very different with some building but nothing like we have. Seattle has the core yet still suffers from the empty lots and mish mash. Portland is a low rise lumber town, I love it just not the same. Toronto is starting to remind me of Seoul, yet there is still something that is very Toronto about what's going on, height density and the lake. I've been in far too many cities this year and always look forward to coming home.

So that lot in the lower right is where the MTCC would be moved if Oxford proceeds? It looks a little small so would some of the convention space be contained in the Oxford buildings north of the tracks?

It will occupy some space north of the tracks as well

^Ummm...People... The Convention Centre already occupies a huge area South of the tracks, on three massive levels.... It's all underground. It goes from the tracks almost to Lakeshore under all that grass. They will not be touching the South buildings... Only the North.

The building on the right side of the rendering posted by ChesterCopperpot (and cut off by the edge of the image) is an expansion of the south entrance building, adding space above ground. My guess is that the Bassett Theatre (if the name remains the same) would be moved to that spot. The south building would be better connected to the north building in that area. The north building would be pretty much rebuilt in the same area, but lower. Most of the new half million square feet of convention space would be added by extending the north side space under the proposed casino.

That said, this is the wrong thread to discuss the Oxford Place proposal. Back on Ãcy topic please.

With both residential towers, there will be an additional five levels above the residential penthouse consisting of mechanical equipment, elevator machine rooms and large sloshing damper tanks to counteract the impact of sway from wind loading on the structures. The implementation of the roof element has been redesigned from the original rendering and will feature a series of angled steel columns that will support a floating upper roof slab.

Thanks as always for your inside info.

Left Coaster on SSP (forks for Cadillac Fairview) said 16 York is on hold indefinitely. Can construction of the green roof occur without 16 York breaking ground?

A floating slab? Is that the cheapening? What happened to the Swiss cheese that was supposed to make this iconic? :(
