The next installment will be our trail walk which takes place just below the Cedarvale Park Trail. It starts at the entrance to Nordheimer Ravine (off of St.Clair, just east of Bathurst) and finishes at Roycroft Park.

This next post is from our trail walk at St.Clair just east of Bathurst, at the entrance to Nordheimer Ravine and takes us to Roycroft Park at Boulton Drive. I really like this trail even though it is rather short. The entrance is really neat as it could easily be missed if you weren’t looking for it. A small opening with curved stairs leads down into a lush green environment. A dirt trail always makes for a more enjoyable experience (even thought it was muddy), and the right side guarded with a stacked log fence made for a nice visual. Something else we noticed was an emergency exit for the St.Clair West subway station. For some reason, I got a ‘Lost’ vibe (the tv show) and it reminded me of one of the hatches and expected to see someone come out in one of those beige working outfits. I wondered if it was ever used and upon reading up on the Nordheimer Ravine, discovered that it was used during the 1995 subway disaster and played an important role.

The trail then moves to an open area of Sir Winston Churchill Park and then into some wetlands (Glen Edyth and Roycroft). We passed two huge tree trunks with their roots sprawling all over the place. A lot of neat things like this to see along the way.
