There were 70 people here today as they get ready for the Grand Opening/Celebration next Friday starting at noon when the fences come down then festivities at 5! This Tuesday evening will be a test of all of the lighting for The Silos. For Nuit Blanche there will be three projections (east and west walls of Silos and one on a large screen at the airport visible from park.)

Windows and doors in at The Corleck and they look amazing. The pavers are going right to the base of The Silos. Taken 27 September.

The maritime vibes that this place was giving today were fantastic! I can’t wait to take people here on a gloomy day in November and sit on the ‘deck’ with a coffee, chatting while watching a choppy Lake Ontario!

And I forgot to mention that in addition to the red tables/chairs they are putting several wooden recliners around the plaza similar to those in St. Andrew’s Playground.

...this is turning out to be one of our brain bleach projects. 😸

From our lighting commissioning this evening. This place is going to be pretty special at night.

Come see it for yourself this Friday!

@bowen - Will there be lighting on the north facing side of the silos? As previously discussed, lighting on the north face of the north silos will be a great view terminus for those on Dan Leckie Way and Portland Street providing great marketing to entice people to Bathurst Quay. :)

We haven’t forgotten about your light, @bgobgo ! 😉

A note about Friday’s opening: in order to make this space open and available for Nuit Blanche attendees on Saturday, we’re proceeding with a phased opening of about 75% of Bathurst Quay Common this weekend, with the balance to follow in November.

Which means the silo lighting will start with a reveal of the south silo’s west elevation on Friday, with the rest to follow (including the north silo light visible down Dan Leckie/Portland) in a few weeks.

Hey Peeps! Today is the big day!!!🍾

Apparently the fences will come down at 1pm so the eager among you can get images then an opening celebration at 5:30. Lights go on at ~8pm. The new hashtag for this space
is #bqcommon
And just like that our grumpy little burgh gets a new waterfront public asset!
