I noticed pallets of the red granite pavers on site this morning.

The photo above does not show clearly that the sidewalk on the north side of Front Street is now blocked off and is being dug up so that this area can be incorporated into the park design. (There's a temporary sidewalk in the parking lane.) I understand that they will be installing additional silva cells under the sidewalk and planting better trees that may actually survive - the rather sad ones on the north side of Front were removed last week. In a few more weeks they will do the same with the Scott Street side of the park and next summer, when Wellington Street is getting a new watermain and TTC tracks, the same thing will happen there.
 
Oh are they going to pave the street with the same flooring as the park ?! I saw that in a rendering but didn't think they'd go ahead with it.
 
A friend described the fountain as "an acid trip" and it's kind of true.

I love it. I predict it'll be in a whole lot of tourist photos.

I agree - and I seriously hope that they take maintaining it seriously as well. Hopefully vandalism won't be too much of an issue.
