Two more weeks. Moving a little quicker. The grass mound in front of Corus is gone.

In these last two pics, that notch in the corner is where the construction hoist will go.

they really need to get the money together for the Queens Quay East LRT.. it's an odd transition with such high quality landscaping along Jarvis and the simple plain sidewalks on Queens Quay.
Which will soon be replicated on Sherbourne, Parliament, Trinity and Cherry.

Not even close to holding my breath, unfortunately. But you're right, they do. Ford likely won't go for it, and Tory is too much of a company man to push hard for it.

Would love to be wrong.

I agree that it needs to move forward. My understanding is the Queens Quay East LRT is awaiting a decision on how to connect it to Union Station (something like underground cable car, moving sidewalk, trolley car) and that a report from the City is due soon (within next 6 months?) about what best option is. Once that's decided and funded, I imagine the QQE LRT would have pretty broad support and be relatively inexpensive (though the full Waterfront LRT will be quite expensive, this is just a small portion of that) - inexpensive enough that the City could do it (perhaps with the Federal govt) without the Province's help (if the Province does not support it, which isn't clear right now).

You may want to look at the WT page on this: https://www.waterfrontoronto.ca/nbe...erfronthome/projects/waterfront+transit+reset

The problem IS the link from QQ to Union but it is NOT cheap - bringing it further east (to Parliament or even Cherry) is NOT a problem from an engineering or a cost pov..) Linking it to the Cherry Street tracks is seen as a long-term aim but getting under the rail berm to achieve this is the problem there.)

Fortunately the cable-car in the existing tunnel idea has died since Will Fleissig 'resigned' as CEO but the real problem is, and always has been, $$$. I think that the "final' report is coming to City early in 2019. Of course, it is required but that has been known since the first EA in about 2005.

This is a perfect example of nonsensical city planning. How does it make sense to drastically increase the density of a neighborhood with little increase in transportation or other infrastructure? Waiting until the buildings are built, everyone moves in, and then gets really angry that there is inadequate infrastructure, and THEN starting to build is completely backwards. The infrastructure should be built and ready for people to use once the neighborhood gets built.

Another question is, what school will all the kids who will be moving into this new neighbourhood be attending? I find the ubiquitous notices from the TDSB warning future residents that there "may" (re: definitely) not be any schooling around once the buildings get built to be quite the cop-out.

https://www.toronto.ca/wp-content/u...g_2016_Census_Profile_2018_25Wards_Ward10.pdf

This ward has a much lower proportion of kids than most of Toronto. The waterfront and this development will probably have an even smaller proportion. Maybe with time all these single young professionals will have kids while continuing to live here, but it doesn't seem like there'd be many kids moving here right away.
There is reserved space for a school in West Don lands just south of Mill Street AFAIR. Of course, having reserved land is not really enough!
