Has there been any indication from ML or Mississauga as to what the timelines will be after this vote? I assume that the next step is tendering a contract to do the construction? Or are we doing detailed design next? Just trying to understand if essentially they are ready to move on. I guess alternately Brampton could delay again. At some point ML and Miss need to move on if that happens.

The minister of transportation has told Brampton they need an answer by October 31....so if this route is not voted for tonight it locks in the "ends at Steeles" solution according to MoT

Should use the money saved by not wasting trackage in Brampton to tunnel a portion of the Mississauga route, just to piss off Brampton that much more. Screw Brampton.

Agreed. And not even necessarily tunnel, some could be elevated. Either way, these savings could go a long way to improving speed and reliability.

Brampton hasn't rejected this yet but I just saw this tweet

I'm watching the debate and while the vast majority of the 57 deputants are intelligently in favour of the HMLRT, and some have been quite amusing, to wait 5 minutes for EACH before Council even gets to speak.. well let me just say that this goes along with the gongshow that is Brampton politics. At this rate nothing will happen until 4+ hours later.

The delegations are standard fare; we had dozens when we voted in KW for ion. Good and bad, everyone gets to say their piece.

That's very true. Just that its excruciating to wait for the real action, especially when I know deep down that zero votes will be swayed by anything any of the deputants say.
The councillors have already decided on their positions.

That's how elected officials earn their pay.....trying to look interested when the deputations get repetitive.

Unless you are Rob Ford.....he would get bored, dash out, and start sticking fridge magnets on peoples' cars.

(I know, I acquired two of them under those circumstances)

it is a long wait for a vote that is going to be 6-5.......5 firm no votes...5 firm yes votes and one guy that couldn't/wouldn't vote in July and spent money of facilitations that solved nothing and this meeting is all to get to the point that he votes.

The majority of deputants have been pro-lrt so far, however I see that the no side are now getting their turn to spew their garbage.

Yeah no kidding. This councillor found something interesting to read while he ignores the speakers.
