They could also continue the Hurontario LRT on the OrangeVille rail tracks, as a Tram-Train.

The Orangeville line is not a mainline and thus I think can get a Transport Canada exception.
However this would require electrification of the orangeville line.

Historically it was supposed to end in central/DT Brampton........presently it is end in south Brampton......there is a move to bring it back to having a future endpoint in central/DT Brampton but to get the votes in council they had to include the ridiculous concept of taking it all the way up Main/Hurontario to Mayfield.....which is northern edge of Brampton.Hurontario LRT is supposed to end in the North end of Brampton, right ? It is too late!If they go all the way up Main/Hurontario, they'll have to develop the land WITHOUT single-family homes, but higher density and no more cul-de-sacs, in other words, a grid pattern of side streets.

North of Bovaird, the entire stretch is already built with traditional subdivisions with the backyards facing Hurontario......the west side has very, very little development land available.....zoned industrial. No one lives on Hurontario north of Bovaird.....something that is not likely to change.
How much real estate is there? Could infill development with storefronts be built in that real estate. Turn the parking lots into a mix of residential and commercial walk-able developments. Turn the gasoline stations into new developments.

Are you talking about the East or West sides of the road....they are dramatically different situations.
It really is the only thing stepping in the way of this being a viable LRT route......if we could only sprinkle in a few lemonade standsToo bad the very restrictive zoning prevents individuals from putting up sheds, "Christmas Markets", or even lemonade stands along the sides. Has to be long term leases with franchises or chain stores.
