The article indicates that the track is "out of spec". Is that not the case?
Do you and others have access to the specifications requirements as I don't have them?? If so, please share them so we can see where the track issues are??? I can only go from my background experience to say this was built wrong or needs fixing.

Since these are Alstom Ottawa LRV's that will be running on the line, we have a picture as where those cars stand due to tolerance issues. With the line being straight, there are no curves like Ottawa. other than the 403 WYE area.

We haven't heard anything about tolerance. issues on Finch trackwork and the ties on Hurontario are found all over Europe for LRT's, why issues with Hurontario Trackwork?? I have seen some poor trackwork and it was replaced at a later date..

As for special trackwork issues, the only special trackwork are for switches, diamonds and curve tracks. unless there some thing in the yard and OMSF that I cannot see from the street.

Unless ML has requested changes to the plan as well surprise thing found not in the design drawings along not in the specifications, Mobilinx is responsible to cover the cost of doing things twice or going back after the designer in the UK to cover the cost when there is a big change between 80% and 100% complete drawings where thing have to be rip out and start all over again. Topflight is a good exam example of this where things were done twice due to drawings being wrong..

Not surprised ML hasn't done anything regarding the Loop extension and why Mobilinx when with straight track at Burnhamthorpe than the WYE. What happens down the road as well the cost to put the WYE in, falls on ML shoulders. Same will happen for Steeles Station unless ML comes up with money to cover the extra cost of moving the station to the north side where it should have been on Day One and that can be blamed on Brampton.

There is a photo from Sept 8 where the southbound lanes were torn up as well on Burnhamthorpe and paved as that area was fully repaved last week to open the intersection up. It could have been because the guideway was higher than it was supposed to be, Extra cost for this on Mobilinx shoulders to cover the extra time and cost to do the work.

This is what I have heard as well from someone who is quite privy to the discussions happening behind the scenes. Metrolinx is expecting 100% compliance whereas these contractors (and the people they’ve hired from overseas) are used to wiggle room.
If that's the case then I'm willing to admit that I've misjudged the precipice of this. I still don't like how Metrolinx has strong-armed them, but even less now given the 100% expectation.

Wow. I just realized the Petro Canada at southwest corner of Burnhamthorpe and Hurontario is gone! Also forgot to mention that it appears that the power station might be under construction at the south east corner of Hurontario and South Service road. I'll try and get a picture of that on the weekend.

They were removing the last of the foundation on October 11. They been doing trench work on site the last month or it could be ML doing it. No idea why the trench work and can't get close to see what is going on. All the underground fuel equipment was done at the very beginning.

Don't recall seeing any work for the power station at the QEW a week ago unless it is in the loop area for the southbound to go eastbound. Seen crews up there for some tome and assumed it was staging area for the QEW work

As for Edge Tower, they were still not fully at grade a week ago with major rebar work in the south west corner and your photo shows it has been poured. Been too lazy and not interested to walk over and shoot the site as well CP station.

Good close up of the 403 area would be nice to see

What time did you shoot the site??

After seeing Tim photos, took a walk up to Edge Towers and Central Pkwy station at noon to take a look and a good day for shooting. Was planning on walking home after visiting the 2 sites, but ended up walking over to M City area and Square one shooting various sites.

The sump pump was setup to pour the station platform base with 20% done then. Wasn't sure how late they would be pouring the whole thing, but was 80% done at 4:30 pm. They will be back at a later date to pour the top coat.

Nothing new for Burnhamthorpe stop, other and a trench has been dug from the platform to short of Matthew Gate to build the platform extension curb like CP one.

@Tim MacDonald , I was haft right for Edge Tower per your photos as the south-west area has been poured with the west side below the exiting surface area. The east side not close to being at grade yet. All our projection dates as to when the the site was fully at grade. has been missed by a month or two at this time with more to come.

A few unedited and not tag shots from today as I am still working on Sept 8 shots as I shot over 500 that day.

All 516 photos for this day are now on line From PC Station TO Central Pkwy that shows how much work is still to be done going into late 2025 or 2026 before the overhead can be install.

The work south of the North Service Rd is a major problem area, but expect to see 2 lanes of traffic over the winter months for both direction with 1/2 to 3/4 of the southbound curb lane open offering a smoother rider.

Don't know if the the northbound curb lane has open between the Queensway to Dundas as well to Hillcrest. Once that lane is open, Paisley Intersection will be close for 5 weeks to build the guideway across it that was supposed to take place in September and then move up to King St to do the same thing.

By year end, they should be building the Fairview intersection in 2 phases due to the fire station there and any other route will add an extra 3-4 minutes travel time that is not acceptable as well means life or death depending on what they are responding to.

Don't expect Dundas will be done until the summer with John St, Hillcrest, The Queensway fire department and Sherobee intersection done over the winter months. It becomes a guessing game for all intersection from the North service Rd to Where the line will move from the centre to the west side at Mary Fix Creek as well from Topflight to Steeles. One hopes ML change their mind and fund the extra cost to move Steeles Station from the south side to the north side, otherwise we will have another Burnhamthorpe Mess on their hands.

The retaining wall should be close to be finished to allow the southbound curb lane built from Fairview to CP Bridge.

a train every 7.5 mins at peak. So if you're lucky as a MCC resident trying to get downtown you will be ideally getting on this LRT with minimal waiting. Then you will be transferring via a walk to Cooksville. The bus got you closer but dont worry this fancy LRT comes around at such reasonable times 7.5mins the speed will more than make up for the old bus parking spot.

If you're a port credit Go Train user do you not get a direct connection to the LRT?

Based on the GO bridge width, they could l extend one island platform further east towards the LRT, but that would still require stairs to climb over or under the tracks just to the parking area plaza.

Curious to see all these undisclosed plans for this area.

To put in a 4th track at PC, it will have to be on the south side making the current platform a centre one. I have no idea where or when and could be wrong seeing a plan with the platforms going the Hurontario bridge. If one look close at the north side of the tracks, there is enough room to put in the 4th track, but the bridge will be have to be widen and the push box is built for that track.

The LRT Station is not close to the tracks to have access to them as that is where the crossover tracks are.

Given the fact the the LRV's are 42m long compared to 12-18m buses, 7.5 minute headway is more than enough time to handle ridership for peak time for at least the first 10 years, but should be 7/8 minutes as it will not happen at 7.5 minutes.

That time is for the plan straight track, but once the loop comes into play, the 7.5 headway may work if you are going from PC to MCC or MCC to Brampton, but with you are going past MCC, you have a transfer time waiting for the other LRV once the line is split in two. It is also possible that one section will have a different headway where the transfer time is longer due to higher demand on one section and low ridership on the other like it is today with the 2/17/103.

The city long ago had a vision of a walkway bridge over Hurontario St to allow better access to the Cooksville GO Station, When the LRT surface, there was talk about having access from the walkway to/from the LRT with that walkway disappearing due to lack of space. The only way access to/from the LRT maybe able to be done is removing the existing bridge centre pier and going with a full clear span bridge costing around $70 million dollars and taking


From @Tim MacDonald great shots, a number of thing stand out.

If one looks closely at PC bridge, you can see there enough room for the 4th track on the south side and wrong about the north side unless a bridge is built over the LRT.

I realized where and when I saw the plan for PC looking at Tim photos and that was during the EA for adding the 3rd track that had the track options on either side of the station then. Don't know with any those options are still around.

Tim photo shows Mary Fix Creek going past the trees to the north and was under the impression that where the creek went under Hurontario until areas north of it was clear that allow me to see it going behind the houses in a small channel.

As I expected, the have open part of the southbound curb lane for 2 lanes of traffic in both direction for the winter months north of Mineola and the QEW with a nice pole in the way at Minneola.

They have also paved and open the northbound curb lane from the QEW off ramp to the North Service Rd and working on building the formwork for northbound traffics to turn left off the new northbound road that could be open next month and closing the current lanes.

I see where Tim was talking about the location of the transformer station at the South Service Rd and if true, will be really close to traffic than any of the others ones bult to date.

It hard to say if the northbound curb is finally open from the Queensway to Dundas as it was still closed on Monday. The section between King and Dundas will remain partly close as they are rebuilding the south-east corner and shifted the bus stop to the west side with that corner being finished or partly open.

The girders for the north section of the 403 bridge should be going up in the next few weeks as the north pier is ready for them.

The big push is on to get civil work done for the road and parts of the guideway before winter sets in. Crew working on Square One Dr curbs from it to the station as well in the centre of the guideway.

The southbound curb lane on the northside of Fairview could see curb and paving taking place next week. Lot of work for the south side.

The retaining wall south of Fairview to CP Bridge is done and no idea what they plan on doing with the 1m wall end as I though they would slope it down to the curb. Backfilling underway for that wall with the road area clean to allow the curb to be pour and then pave to have both lanes open for good.

The northbound curb lane is still close for the bridge area as they are now building a retraining wall from the hydro sub station and about 150m north of it.

Most of the retraining wall is built from CP bridge to John St, but a lot of work before that corner is ready to be open.

The northbound curb lane is now open from John St to just north of Dundas.

They haven't poured the top coat for the Central Pkwy platform and could be wrong with all the plastics covering it.

The curb lane for westbound Rathburn from City Centre/View is ready to be pave as the curb has been poured for it up to the end of the ramp, Same can say for the east side of the intersection.

The new sidewalk for the ramp to Rathburn/City View is ready to open once the rest of the restraining wall handrails are install.

Other and what I posted, seen no work for other areas. Was talking to a few hydro crews this past week and looks hydro will not have their work completed in 2025 as plan. As a note, hydro is restring the hydro lines along the 403 with thicker and stronger wires to handle more power, handle 150 miles winds and future ice storms like the past that did not. There are 4 cranes supporting the the wires over the 403 ramps and Hurontario with nightly closures for ramps.
