3) The only thing I don't like is both downtown stations facing 'into' the loop instead of 'out'. IMO, coverage would be much better if they had both stations with ends at Yonge and University respectively, but extending out towards Victoria and St. Patrick. Everything inside of the loop is already very well connected by the PATH network, but extending the stations boxes outwards from the loop effectively extends the walking radii of both Queen and Osgoode stations. Looking towards an eventual westward extension, having Osgoode extending to St. Patrick puts having a Spadina station between Spadina and Peter a real possibility, which effectively makes the entire stretch of Queen between University and Spadina easily walkable to the nearest station.

Quite right, especially the University station.
I don't understand the obsession of serving NPS in the first place. Why? Nobody lives there, it is already very well served and it is hardly a tourist attraction either. From NW corner of Yonge/Queen, it is a very short walk there, I don't even think that underground path is that necessary.

Glad there is two exits at Sherbourne. One of the worst intersections in the city can expect to transform greatly in the future.

An answer to something that all of us really wanted to know.

TIt's actually getting late. If they know there will be another line crossing Eglinton at Science Centre, they need to plan for that.

No they don't need to plan for anything. Re-route ELRT to the surface for a few years and the underground station box can be completely gutted and redesigned. It'll be 20+ years before there is a subway connection here.

It might save hundreds of millions on the project by running the subway on top and LRT underneath (LRT changes grade faster than TR trains).

SmartTrack will now be done in a couple of years...what a joke.

Tendered sure. Both the province and feds are itching to get contracts firmed up on. In service like West Harbour GO station was for the Pan Am games? Perhaps!

We will probably have hourly service and no station changes on Stouffville corridor within 2 years, at standard GO fare levels.

That's not SmartTrack!

Says what official? Tory will call it compromise and a work in progress.

It's what the voters asked for. Someone who would get something out quickly, compromise on usefulness in favour of budget, and achieve little to nothing to reduce congestion. That last point, nothing to reduce congestion, is a very important Toronto voter demand; see Spadina extension, Sheppard Subway on/off proposal, Eglinton LRT, and Scarborough subway for other examples.

Steven Del Duca, Ontario’s Minister of Transportation, announced that Metrolinx would be given “more than $150 million” to work with the City and the TTC on advancing planning and design for the Relief Subway Line to bring it to “shovel ready” status.

I remember some loudmouth on here saying Metrolinx would have no part in the planning and building of this line...

Whoever said that is misinformed. Like the SSE, funding will be provided by the Province of Ontario and Metrolinx, but TTC and City Planning will be leading the project. This won't be like Crosstown, where Metrolinx is leading.
