Are those glass walls on the upper floors semi-transparent? I don't understand why they don't use proper windows on the non-walled sections.

Zoning by-law doesn't allow for them to have windows on that side as it doesn't meet setback requirements. It would have sterilized the property to the North, as it did to the Zurich building. (Tribute entered into an agreement with the owner of the Zurich building so that if it were ever redeveloped, the new building would have to be built 5.5 metres away from the Residences of the RCMI... meaning less space for development)

Looks like they'll be bringing the crane down soon. One of those mini cranes has been assembled on the roof.
 
Too bad they couldn't come up with a nice podium/basement to connect the three buildings and provide a underground tunnel to the subway.
 
In Ramako's picture the 5 extended "fins" along the south side of the building really look apparent. nice to see that this architectural touch wont be so lost behind the scenes. even in the rendering they are barely noticeable but there "thinkerness" and protruding character stands out much more in reality it seems.
