I wish the media would put more pressure on the city with these late projects. There should be stories every few weeks about continued delays. pressure these people to do their damn jobs
You kidding? They’re deep frying something at the ex! And the air show, people have complaints- and after this commercial break “it’s back to school next week, we’re taking a hard look… at pencil cases”

Old vs new… after dark

Sometimes it's an issue with the sidewalk that can only be addressed by a redo. Unless Toronto Hydro is involved...I suspect this maybe the case here. And for what that's worth.
In this case they dug up a section of apparently fine looking sidewalk and poured a new section, that looks identical. Perhaps they had extra concrete lying around or time on their hands?

...you'd be accusing them of a make work project, you know. 🙀

I feel like there's something missing from the front of the building. Like a sense of welcoming and draw. The big sheets of glass on the two parts of either side of the entrance almost give me hands of stop, do not proceed. Wish there something there, like detailing or text.
I recall excitement at this being the winning proposal, but I can't help but feel underwhelmed.

Perhaps that will change once it's open.

I am waiting to see how well the Farmers fit into their new space. As you might imagine, they were very unwilling to be moved from the old North Market but are now, I am told, not too keen on moving back! Change is a problem for some folk.

This has been quite the evolution from the original scheme:

And the sad thing is with all the delays and cost overruns, they'll probably spend as much on the current iteration as they would've on this version (assuming no cost overruns had this been built - but hey, this is Toronto, so cost overrun of at least 80% of the original budget must be assumed)
