Agree. Hopefully 20-30 years down the road, MLS' towers will get re-clad with something attractive.

The City has just announced:

• The westbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard between Bay Street and York Street will be closed to traffic from Saturday, August 16 at 12:01 a.m. to Sunday, August 17 at 11:59 p.m. for the construction of a pedestrian bridge over Lake Shore Boulevard.

Thanks for the update

Was in the area earlier and got a few shots from the Maple Leaf Square bridge. The entire north sidewalk was closed from Bay to York so I couldn't get any better angles.

Here's how it was delivered to the site. That flatbed is one of those remote controlled 100-wheeler types that can turn on a dime. Not sure what they're actually called :).
Looks like it was delivered sitting high up on those large temporary pillars so the bridge were pretty much at the right vertical height to be slotted into position onto it's final supports. Too bad I wasn't there earlier to see the process take place. The flatbed pillars were being dismantled while I was there.

Best project under construction so far...cant wait to see the area fully constructed

Atlantis & Marcanadian many thanks for the pics

I'm trying to figure out where the pedestrian bridge ends up on the south side. Is it going to be integrated into the development? Is there a temporary exit that people can use now?

I'm trying to figure out what happens in the north end. The existing second-story walkway from Air Canada Centre (and Maple Leaf Square) comes to a stop, and then there's some doors, and a smallish stairway to the bottom and Union Station. This seems sufficient for the current demand (from ACC offices and the occasional person who walks from the Maple Leaf Square) (most simply walk outside).

But surely there'll be a huge increase in usage in rush hour. Is that relatively modest stairwell in ACC being replaced with something? I assume there's an elevator somewhere that I haven't noticed?

Actually walked through today. No sign of an elevator anywhere. Now that could be a problem! Presumably there's something with the ACC area - but that's not publicly accessible for those coming from south of the Gardiner.
