Did somebody say DRL?

Didn't think so. Light rail will do nothing for Bloor-Yonge and the overcrowding on the Yonge Line.

Actually, the Eglinton LRT would transfer the some of the crowding at Bloor-Yonge up to either Eglinton West or Eglinton. Also, some of the south Etobicoke passengers could use the Lakeshore West LRT to go downtown, which is why the Union Station platform is being expanded.

If they're being "transferred to Eglinton," that just means even more people will be on Yonge before the Bloor/Danforth crowd gets a chance to get on Yonge trains. Sheppard could also flood the Yonge line with tens of thousands more riders, not to mention the Yonge extension, Don Mills, Morningside, etc., all of which will only add riders that use Yonge & Bloor station. The *only* solution is to have less people using the Yonge line...and it's not like there's any capacity to spare north of Bloor. The Spadina extension will address this by removing Finch West riders away from Yonge. South Etobicoke passengers already have an intervening transfer opportunity in the form of the University line.
