If a tourist rides buses or trams in Europe, would they carry a USB-A or USB-C cord to recharge their smartphone while on them? Most tour buses now have USB-A plugs on them.

That's the $100,000 question, I think that the majority of tourists who looking to change a phone or tablet somewhere already have a charger with them these days.

^For the bus manufacturer, it’s probably cheaper to make it a standard feature than to vary the production line (and parts sourcing) by customer. Just like all the things on autos that come bundled there days.
I’m looking at all the devices I have that came with the traditional USB cubes.... a gazillion cords with different terminations, but all the same slot on the supply end. If somebody changes that standard, think of all the cubes that are going in recycling. Hopefully not, for another decade anyways.
But it is a silly detail to obsess over when the core deliverable (getting from A to B) is often in need of improvement.

How often do the interiors get refurbished? Every 10 to 15 years?

If selecting a plug today which is expected to still be still be useful in 10 years, I'd go with mostly USB-C (perhaps 1 in 4 would be USB-A).

By the end of next week, TTC will have 7% of the fleet off site once the last of the 3 cars are loaded. TTC will have 4419 and 4421 back on site starting Monday with one of the 2 cars,

4419 was loaded Oct 26/20 and 4421 Nov 24.

The buses usually have a life span of less than 15 years for the TTC, streetcars are double that or more. So a USB-C for the new streetcars would be better than going with USB-A for the streetcars. Replacing the plugs would be cheap for whatever comes along could be done at rebuild time.

Something like this: https://www.molex.com/molex/products/part-detail/io_connectors/0795405067

Gets you the best of both worlds while also being easy to upgrade/replace in the future with newer models.

When 4421 is off loaded Monday or Tuesday, it will see the fastest turn around to date at 118/119 days.

4427 is currently at Roncesvalles carhouse being ready to re-enter service on Monday after been here 46 days. Has re-enter service on 505

It will be about mid April before 4413 and 4416 re-enter service.

4425 & 4426 could show up in April but more like May.

As for 4471 it been gone since April 03/2019 at 718 days and 4478 since Jan 23/2019 at 788 days

4413 has re-enter service on 510

CP has yet to pickup 4420 so 4421 can be drop off. 4402 is still sitting in Lambton and looks like it waiting for the other 2 cars to join it on its way to QC. Since there is another flat at Lambton not sure if it to pickup another car or will be an idler car.

4419 out testing as an in service car on Dundas St W after arriving at Leslie Barns Sunday.

Someone needs to catch the CP train either leaving Lambton or on the Montreal with the 3 or 4 cars on it as this has been done before in the past.

4421 was finally off loaded yesterday after CP removed 4420 so 4421 could be place. 4422 has taken 4421 spot on the flat.
There is supposed to another flat at Lambton to pickup another car.

Don't know if 4402 is still at Lambton or now and if so 3 car to be transfer to be ship to QC. If there is a 4th car to go with the other 3, a sight not seen before with 2, let alone 3 or 4..

Just check the tracker and looks like 4423 is now off site and the car I said elsewhere was most likely the next car to leave. This makes 14 cars are now off site and just short of 7% of the fleet.

4419 about to leave the yard for testing.
4416 has been up at Hillcrest the last 2 days.

The last four TTC cars to leave for Quebec were sent off on the following transporters:

4402 - TTTX 965335

4420 - XTTX 137329

4422 - JTTX 966016

4423 - XTTX 142489

Someone with access to the CP's railcar tracking system could figure out if all four are sent to Montreal as part of the same train. Someone needs to get a shot of them as well as the most shipped at one time by TTC

Two went out together, and have already been sighted in Montreal. The other two are following.

PS - it's ITTX 965335

Car numbers came from TTC. Most likely 4402 and 4420 since CP had issues getting 4422 out to place 4421. 4422 & 4423 should be on their way now

4425 is sitting in Lambton to be off loaded at Hillcrest and looks like QC is now starting to pump cars faster now than in the past. This car is now the fastest turn around at 97 days so far compared to 4421 that was 121 days.

I guess this is why more cars are being shipped by TTC now.

4424 will be the next car to be ship to QC.

If 4424 ship, then all cars from 4400-4427 have been fix or in the process. Then 4428-4434 should be the next batch to catch up to 4434-4438 that are in QC. 4439-4466 will be the last batch to go.
