Knowing how many issues were removed and how many were added may help explain before we jump to conclusions...

I noticed a couple weeks ago that travelling on Line 2 going east from the Broadview to VP seemed kinda sluggish. Not sure if that’s getting ready to be a slow zone or not. However, that was a few weeks ago.
 
So that lasted what, just barely over 1 week? Speed restriction is back between St.Clair West and Eglinton West.

There's really no more words to describe this mess. I've lost count of how many times this has happened with a restriction getting lifted only to be re-instituted, but we're for sure in double digits now. On that note let's see how long the fix lasts between Main Street and Victoria Park, i'm sure that restriction will be back in 2 weeks at this rate.

And on a note regarding streetcar service, service on the 507 Long Branch has been replaced by buses for who knows how long. The TTC and/or their contractor could barely make the major track reconstruction last 2 years and now they are fixing some kind of defect at Kipling and Lake Shore. I dont see an advisory on the TTC website so either it's fixed today, or it's just the TTC's standard bad/lack of communication.

Vic Park to Warden on Line 2 is still there despite the weekend closures (I recall last week as well?)

Seeing the St. Clair W. to Eglinton W. slow zone return on Line 1 is just depressing. The tracks from St. Clair W. up to Wilson must be REALLY bad.
 
Can someone explain to me why TTC keeps shutting down the track between Sheppard West and Vaughan every month for a week? It’s so infuriating how they keep doing this and that too at 11:00pm on a weekday for an entire week.
 
New slow zone added, eastbound Kipling to Islington. Will all this week's early closures and weekend closures between Kipling and Keele rectify the issue? Knowing the TTC i doubt it, but miracles do exist:

It depends on what those closures are intended to do, and whether there remains the ability to do other work, both in terms of access and in terms of manpower.

For instance, the work going on at Warden would have precluded work crews from being able to access Kennedy, if it was needed.

In general, I seek to deal in substantive facts, rather than anecdotes; but today, I feel like sharing one of the latter.

I was on the TTC yesterday.........and my experience w/their communication and operation was less than ideal.

1) I boarded line 1 just before evening rush, at College Station.

When I boarded, I found out the train was holding due to a medical emergency at Lawrence.

First observation, that's quite the back up to have service slowed down that far south...........and I wonder what the response time was like from EMS, in a previous situation where I was present the response time (EMS to platform level was well outside of guidelines for response times.

Second observation, they were apparently making use of ATC to turn back every second train at Eglinton and send the other trains north operating bidirectionally (alternating w/SB service Good.

But....the delay at College was about 15 minutes for me, then the train moved north to Wellesley and held for another 5+ minutes before moving on to Bloor.

ATC allows trains to get quite close together, much closer than they actually were. My overall impression is that they did not use the system to its potential.

I'm also curious if they literally alternated one train north, one south, over the affected area. It strikes me, that with ATC, and the distances involved, it would probably have worked better to move trains in alternate directions two at a time.

2) I get to Bloor and Transfer to Line 2, bit of a wait, but nothing too bad, service moved along fine.

There was an announcement of a power out situation in the west end, somewhere west of Ossington, but that didn't impact me.

However, we did get held at Coxwell. There was no crew change...........and the hold was a good solid 5 minutes, with no announcement as to why.

Overall not a great impression.
