TTC owes its customers a whole lot of detail on this. What happened to the corrective action plan from the last set of incidents - was it being followed? Where in the lifespan are all of the current vehicles, and are plans and funding in place to replace vehicles at end of life? When was the guilty equipment last inspected, and are its inspections and programmed maintenance up to date ?
Knowing nothing about hydraulic systems.....I'm curious also about the hydraulics on these machines.... just how much fluid do they carry and what is the potential release under worst case? I witnessed a spill from a garbage truck that shut down a major intersection for several hours....that one was a very small spill....it doesn't take much volume of fluid to really mess things up, but one wonders how large the TTC incidents are in comparison.
