I wonder if they should stop looping the subways at Union and have the Yonge and Spadina lines running as separate lines that terminate at Union. Having both sides stopped because of one signal issue doesn’t make sense.
And how would you do that, considering that the signal system is completely integrated and the track is not configured for it?

Signal problems late this morning on the eastern portion of the 2 between VP and Kennedy.

Arrived at Kennedy to find an already pretty full train waiting, so it must have been idling there some time. Waited about 15 minutes before we were given the go ahead to leave, during which time no other trains arrived on the opposite track.

Not a word from anyone as to what the hold up was. Nothing on the TTC site while we were waiting, either.

I heard it was switch issues over the tannoy

As we close the year, we can see that the TTC has certainly improved the slow order situation. And while this is true, one hopes they can get their heads of of their ***** to finally resolved the other areas which have not been addressed and fixed (mainly on Line 1 which have had these slow zones in effect for 3/4th of the entire calendar year which is utterly embarrassing).

Several of the remaining RSZs are outdoor sections, I suspect proper repairs may thus not be feasible until spring but it's good to see the St Andrew-King sections finally cleared up.

Which is something the TTC claimed earlier this summer and they stated they were looking to address the fixes before the winter time, but alas here we are.

The southbound from Summerhill RSZ is still there weeks after they removed it from the map for some reason.
The RSZ north from Bloor has been considerably shortened.

There's potentially further issues coming. I took a rare trip up the University leg to Downsview a fortnight ago. I was surprised while going northbouhd at how much transverse movement there was north of Eglington West. I don't think I've ever seen such rattling back and forth between the cars, when looking at the articulated area.

What the article said is that there will probably always be SOME SRZs. It is not unreasonable that this is true, what is unacceptable is that some of then are left unfixed for many months!
While true, the fact that they are not even aiming to get that number down to 0 is appalling. Our network is nowhere near the size of a city like New York's, who can reasonably get away with having at least a part of the subway be a WIP at all times - the fact that we can't hope to have 0 RSZs on a network with only two real lines speaks to either a stunning lack of ambition, or shocking incompetence.

Definitely shows how sad it is we can’t maintain our small subway network. That being said, I’m attending York U starting this week from Danforth and Vic Park, and am glad the situation is MUCH better than it’s been most of 2024.

Other daily TTC issues on the other hand, not looking forward to….. (granted, still choosing this over driving).
