Yes, the last day of the turnback being December 18th was on Steve Munro's website in October. http://stevemunro.ca/2015/10/30/ttc-service-changes-effective-november-22-and-december-20-2015/

Looks like February 2009 - at which time it was supposed to go for less than 2 years. https://www.ttc.ca/News/2009/February/Early_closure_of_TTC_subway_line.jsp

It's a good job that subways last 100 years!

and the whole problem was realized over 16 years ago.

you can read about it here, http://transit.toronto.on.ca/subway/5105.shtml

Sherbourne and Castle Frank wifi is live. Has been for about a week (only a few days after I pinged tconnect which I'm sure is coincidental :) )

Don't know if the west end stations are on line as I haven't been west of Bay recently.

For the past couple of days i've seen buses supplementing streetcars service on Lake Shore between Humber Loop and Long Branch. Does anyone have any idea on what's going on with that?

Video screens are coming soon to Sheppard-Yonge station.

With the new weekday schedule that started on Monday, TTC added 10 buses to 501 to run a needed. This is temporary until the new schedule comes out, apparently in January.

Do you happen to know what the rational is behind this? I mean I appreciate their "effort" in improving service along this stretch, but why dont they just wait until January for the improved service instead of adding temporary bus runs?

The January streetcar improvements are funded.

If I were the TTC, I would look at more ways to short-turn streetcars at Kipling in order to continue the inadequate service on the west end.

Apologies for my pessimism, it just seems like one of those situations that are too good to be true. We'll just have to see how things work out in January.
