Does anyone have a heads up on when the Vaughan Mills shuttle bus will start next year. It started on the 22nd May this year but I understand that it will be starting earlier next year and in fact there may be a small charge to use the shuttle.

They best tread carefully. Charing a "fare" would violate the City of Toronto Act.

Why would someone would catch that shuttle from downtown when they could just visit the exact same stores in the Eaton Centre??

Wait, what? ^

Pardon my ignorance, but are you saying that people willingly travel from downtown to Vaughan Mills on a shuttle bus? W....T.....F?

Oh, according to the Vaughan Mills website, they offer something Eaton Centre doesn't: "Your cheeks will hurt from smiling so much, as you shop at Vaughan Mills! This place is anything but traditional."

And there's lots of photographs of smiling white young adults. This mall rules!!

Why don't you just take the 360 Maple Express from Yorkdale Stn? It's only 20 minutes from there to the mall and best part it's year round so no reason to wait.

I don't understand the violation. "Chinatown" buses going to Casino Rama and Niagara Falls pick up/drop off passengers within the City of Toronto, and they also charge fares. Are they violating the Act?

Mea culpa.

Same stores?????????? Vaughan has a Tommy Hilfiger Outlet store which is the biggest in the World. Bass Outlet store for sporting equipment is huge, Children's Place they also have a large Winners and a great Golf shop which sells loads of quality T-shirts at a large discount. To give you an example I bought a Calloway T-shirt reduced from 60 dollars to 30 dollars, about £15 sterling. I couldn't buy it here for 60 pounds sterling. Believe me I know I live very near St. Andrews in Fife the home of Scottish golf. There are loads of many other shops that are not in the Eaton Centre. The shuttle bus what's wrong with it. I travel from the airport on the express shuttle so why can't I travel on the Vaughan shuttle? The bus is always quite full and after reviewing the service they have decided to run it again in 2010 and earlier in the season so something is attracting people to the mall. It is very comfortable and is only around 40 minutes on the freeway.

I had no idea how to get to it and local people on the bus had said that it takes a very long time with public transport. However my wife and I are flying over on the 22nd April and if the shuttle is not in operation we will maybe try this way. We waited until April to come to Toronto because the flights from Glasgow are only around 400 dollars return each. Of course you must remember I am a Scot and the shuttle bus is FREE!!!!haha Yorkdale that would involve paying two fares? Many thanks to members for their help and information. I don't mean this to be insulting but you don't know how lucky you are with the choices of malls and the quality of life in Canada. Britain is quickly going down the hill with so many problems it is a step back in time to visit Toronto and enjoy the hospitality and respect we receive from many quarters.

Who would pay $30 for a T-shirt? I'm not being sold here.

Looking at the stores there ... http://vaughanmills.shopping.ca/cambridge/html/vgm/Directory.pdf

It just looks like another mall to me ... same old stores. There doesn't even look like there is a decent bookstore. And no major department store. The fishing store certainly looks unique ...

I don't think I'd even ever heard of the place until the tornado went by it.

Unless your an angler, it doesn't look like it's worth the trip to Acton.

You don't realise how cheap Canada is to shop compared with Britain. 30 dollars for a Calloway you are having a laugh. Don't you know how much branded golf equipment and clothing costs? £15 pounds sterling is very cheap. We can pay that much for basic stuff out of lower end stores. In Canada we can afford to buy designer. Bookstore ......... books are too heavy for our luggage.:D

It is not the same as other malls and was never intended to be. It intentionally does not have things like groceries. It didn't end up being as unique as it was planned (a fair number of US retailers that were supposed to come and establish their first Canadian stores/outlets bailed at the last minute) but is still different.

It is more of a fashion/outlet/entertainment mall than we are used to.

This is an urban forum so I don't think the responses here are "don't come to Canada to shop" they are more....stay in the city and shop. As an example, if you were interested in golf stuff, people on this board are more inclined to say visit Toronto and buy your golf stuff at Golf Town at King and John street in the city. If it is designer clothing, stay in the city and walk along Queen West and do your shopping....etc etc etc.
