Great renderings and generally good ideas but I will feel happier if we actually see some CONSTRUCTION!
The first thing that had to be done before the real construction can start was filling in Jarvis slip and that has been done. The next step is to build the new Jarvis intersection and then procced east. At the same time, filling in the Yonge slip has to happen before any work can take place for the east portal and a new wye at the Bay tunnel,

There is no clear information about phases and their timeline to the point the new extension will be only for the road and the MGT with TTC ROW been built for future needs come 3035 or so. I have lost all hope to see streetcar on this new extension before 2035. You will see buses first and why the grass ROW got removed from the vision.

I think you mean the PARLIAMENT SLIP and Parliament intersection.

Actually I think the year 3035 is quite an appropriate timeline for this project at this point.

That is what I get for trying to do something at a rush before getting out the door and you are correct.

Noticed in the slides that the 30% design for the Union loop shows the streetcar tracks for the Bremner line. I thought that had been killed, but I guess they're still provisioning for it happening in like year 3000 or something.

I also don't remember there being anything about a northwest entrance from the loop before, but there's now a planned protection for that, which is cool. Presumably that would go into the Bay Concourse somehow (if it is ever built).

So what is the hold-up here?

Why doesn't the Mayor just play realpolitik with Doug on this? "We agree to take out the bike lanes but you have to make a commitment on WELRT and EELRT"

Doug can literally abolish the entire City government if he wants to. The amount of concessions Olivia has gotten out of him since taking over is impressive IMO, given she has no leverage to use, but he could put Toronto under direct provincial control tomorrow if the legislature passed such a bill (and with their majority, they very well could, if desired).

If it was John Tory, he probably would've sold off multiple city properties for cents on the dollar in exchange for the various things we've gotten out of the province to date.

I'll certainly admit, it's impressive what we've been able to get from Doug.

Would also be a great place to introduce trams/streetcars with driver cabin on both the back and the front and doors on both sides.

The operational flexiblity and not needing a loop to turn around would be useful in this environments where space is limited.

Oh, a spur that takes the line to Leslie Barns seems useful.

The question of double-end cars has been discussed at GREAT length elsewhere on UT - let's not get sidetracked here. The extension of the route along Commissioners to the Barns IS 'in the plans' but I doubt that most of us will live long enough to see it happening as the cost will be high - new bridge needed over the new Don plus the actual track.

I have spoken on duel ends going back as far as 2008 if not before then, here and other places that is long over due. It may have started at the beginning of ordering the new fleet.

Running the tracks on Commissioner St is not as simple as some think it can be done. As you note, the bridge over the Don is needed and it not going to be cheap nor simple to do as the road bridge was done. It is also in the Transit Master plan along with the Broadview line

You need a EA for that extension as well the final master plan for the east end and there is no finally plan at this time other saying x areas will be this to a point.

Need to redo the transmission towers along with rebuilding the road and deciding if the ROW will be in the centre of the road under the transmission lines or to continue like it will be on the first phase of Commissioner. Then you need to allow for the Broadview connection with a possibility going over the shipping channel.

At this point of time, the earliest we can see the line going to Leslie is 2040-60 and a number of us will not be around to take that ride on that line as well the QQE line since no one knows when their number is up, regardless of age.
