I have no use for O'Toole's dog whistles and right wing populism, while the CONDP have no idea what they are doing. The Greens never appealed to me either and my riding is ultra safe Liberal most of the time, especially with the current state of the opposition.

Former Calgary MP Rob Anders — a long-time crusader for lower taxes who helped found the Conservative Party of Canada — has been charged amid allegations of tax evasion during the time he held his seat, federal prosecutors have confirmed to CBC News.

Anders faces five charges laid earlier in September under the Income Tax Act with offences alleged between 2012 and 2018, as first reported by the National Post on Tuesday.

The former Calgary West MP held his seat from 1997 to 2015, first for the Reform Party and then for the Conservative Party.

He faces:

• Three charges of making a false or deceptive statement for the tax years 2012, 2013 and 2014.
• One charge of obtaining or claiming a refund to which he was not entitled or in amounts greater than to which he was entitled for the tax years 2012, 2013 and 2014.
• One charge of evading payment of taxes between April 1, 2012, and June 30, 2015.

If convicted, Anders could face up to two years in jail and fines between 50 and 200 per cent of the evaded taxes.

I guess he decided to get himself lower taxes before his government gave him the approval

Now I take no issue w/discussing the deficit, I have issue with it too. Not all the money is going to necessary and Covid-related matters; and we're hearing too little about the medium-term plan to fund this...........

I also take no issue with a fair conversation about what restrictions have and have not been placed on people and businesses. While I completely favour prudent action and indeed think more would have been sensible in many areas; i also think there were too many restrictions not supported by evidence on outdoor activities and in relation to fomite transmission (inanimate objects)

But this piece.............is not that....................its not thoughtful or nuanced........its full on Tin-Foil Hat rant..............

Socialist isn't the problematic word here even if used perjoratively; the word "coup" is - it suggest illegitimacy. Accusing a democratically elected government to be staging a "coup" is utterly irresponsible and indefensible.
