Good photos Mustapha. Thank you. Agree with the comments drawing parallels between Pittsburgh and Hamilton, Ontario, although my impression, unfortunately, is that Pittsburgh is the more liveable of the two. Both ex-steel towns, which are being forced to change drastically as those jobs have disappeared.

I also note that the Niagara Escrpment, running through Hamilton, has a parallel in Pittsburgh. The last time I was there, they still had two "incline" railways, going up their cliff face on rails. A great ride with a view from the top. Interestingly, Hamilton had one of those too, at one time, but it disappeared many decades ago. It was located at Wentworth Street.

Is that Kaufman's store at all related to the Kaufman's chain (of Falling Water fame)?

Hi Jason,

The Fallingwater family spelled it with two "n"s.

This Kaufman's is a "one off".

Some discussion here by some of the locals.

I notice that a Flickr commenter has mentioned that our Wheeling Kaufmans is bankrupt as of December 2010.

Their website mentions a re-opening: http://www.kaufmansofwheeling.com/

Thanks Observer Walt,

I'll do a Pittsburgh walkaround in the summer when the light is better and the sun comes up higher - the shadows are too long at this time of year, even at midday.
