According to Steve Munro York Region has requested that TTC cut the frequency on the 24D Victoria Park from once every 30 minutes to hourly mid-day and from once every 18 minutes to once every 36 minutes after 8 pm.

Meanwhile TTC is increasing service on the rest of 24 so that there is at least one bus every 10 minutes.

If someone is busing up from Toronto I am usually obliged to swoop down and pick them up from Steeles so that they can be free from this kind of stupidity (not to mention the pathetic and ever so infuriating double fare).

In terms of urban design, Markham might be a poster child for trying too hard, yet not hard enough. At least in a piecemeal fashion. They are putting in transitways and new urbanist developments wherever they can, but they don't work together. The transitway through "Downtown Markham" works out to be slower than if it just stayed on the main roads, and many such developments are constructed away from these roads as well. Even the "model" NU development of Cornell is just a subdivision with a retail building in the middle!

This is reflected in the transit schedules in Markham. Despite this desire for post modern urbanism, they cannot seem to capture the soul of it. Compare this to Richmond Hill, which at least along the Yonge corridor south of 19th, there are mixes of uses right along the street, moderately sized parking lots, and several high density developments going in as well. It might not capture the form, but it does capture the spirit. Even streets like Major Mackenzie, 16th, and mid block north-south routes are seeing increasing ridership and/or frequencies.

The reason why no one takes 24D/224 Victoria Park is because the service is too complicated and inconvinent.

Given YRT is quite happy to run hourly service where numbers warrant, surely the claim that no one takes a bus that is well used enough to run every 15 minutes is 100% wrong. Heck, there's some VIVA services that aren't that frequent!

Seriously, I'm wondering if you are trolling or are just 9 years old now.

Probably the latter.

In any case, if you don't like the frequencies of the route, do something about it. Put your money where your mouth is. Engage your neighbours. Ride the bus.

Yes and that video that I've showed to you is awesome.
How is it awesome? It's sad and pathetic that anyone could be ignorant enough to blame someone who has nothing to do with TTC and TTC that have nothing to do with frequency on that route on a York Region decision.

Why would you publicize something so utterly pathetic? Surely the guy standing on the side making run of the person with an intellectual disability is of questionable morals?

No sane individual would ever blame Steve for this. The same way no one would blame the Globe and Mail for invading Crimea after reading a news paper report about Putin invading Crimea. So why highlight this?

That still means your claim that are no passengers on 24D/224 isn't 100% false, given the relatively high frequency in rush hour!

Wow ... clearly whoever made it psychiatric issues. I don't see any point of highlighting such sad and pathetic posts though ...

They really should simplify service on Woodbine Avenue in Markham.

I always agree to this commentator.
