I am 100% in agreement with Janz on this, EPL branches, especially Milner, have definitely become a pseudo-drop in centre for our homeless population.
He nails it well with this quote:
He said this is one example of cities having to deal with a problem that is supposed to be under provincial jurisdiction.

“Whether it’s shopping malls having to pay for more security, whether it’s insurance premiums going up for residents because of vehicle break-ins or a social disorder, whether it’s the library having to incur an additional $1.5 million to go towards dealing with the overdose epidemic,” said Janz.

Say what you want about Janz, I'm not personally a huge fan of most of his politics, but he isn't afraid to support what isn't popular and he clearly believes more in trying to do what he thinks is right rather than trying to play the reelection game.

A war on cars? Just the feds penalizing Alberta? Or good stewardship?

"For a lot of Albertans, ‘car equals freedom’ and they see their car as something they go to the mountains.

10 million EVs were produced last year. In the next couple of years that will increase to 20 million about 25% of total world wide production of automobiles. What do you think the will do to the demand for oil? A 10% decrease in demand will have a devastating effect on the price of oil as producers scramble to secure market share. The most expensive oil will get shut in first and guess who has some of the most expensive oil? So no matter what Trudeau, Smith or Staples say the future is out of our hands.

If the Saudis and Qataris are building massive sovereign wealth funds and diversification programs because they're slightly worried about the future oil market, Alberta should be completely terrified.

Our political leadership could have an adult conversation about this but are just choosing not to I guess? Very disappointing.
