I have recently noticed crowding around a hand sanitizer station in the entrance to King station. It's mostly people pumping hand sanitizer into Tim Hortons cups, presumably to eat/drink. Maybe placing hand sanitizer is not appropriate in this particular setting?

TTC isn’t doing themselves any favours with the poor maintenance practices. They have already seen the province privatise maintenance on 3 upcoming subway/LRT lines. Metrolinx-led extensions of Line 1 and Line 2 also have no guarantee of TTC being the maintainer.

The upload is off the table right now, but chronic issues with TTC’s in-house maintenance could lead the neoliberals at Queen’s Park to push for private maintenance on the existing subway.

I hope these people are using it to light campfires or for hand sanitizing... It can cause health issues if ingested as I believe they denature the alcohol by adding a small amount of poisonous alcohol, like isopropanol (aka isopropyl alcohol)

Had to tell some riders standing at an TTC stops on Cherry St they had to go to the New Cherry St stop at no buses run on Cherry or Villiers St anymore. All existing stops on the now close Villiers St as well Cherry St have no signs up saying stops and shelters are no longer in service.

Those stops were removed from service on January 24/24 and let see how long they remain in up as well when the shelter will be remove.

This is typical of the TTC, I hope you emailed or phoned them!

Had to tell a few cycles as well and was told the sign on Commissioner St east of the bridge said to use Villiers detour. Then there were the walkers trying to use the old Cherry bridge.

The 504s are of course diverting in the west end now, but the number boards on the streetcars, and the audio announcements, all say "off route" for the entire route, even when they're back on King and won't be going "off route" any more, leading to quite a bit of confusion among riders getting on who all want to know where it will be going off route.

This will clearly affect streetcars. Though there are very poor sections of track in this area so ..

No doubt entirely necessary; but this sheer volume of 'emergency' work on both streetcar and subway routes is not a positive reflection on the TTC or the City/its contractors. This on top of the issue of badly delayed major projects both from the City and Metrolinx.

^And of course these clowns find a way to do this work at the right as soon as the western portion of the 504 is just beginning significant service disruption due to watermain construction. Could they seriously not find any time to do this a month ago? The section of bad track here has been pretty apparent for months now, and they "conveniently" decide to go ahead with this work now.

Being "Angry" seems a bit of an over-reaction here, this may simply be regular ongoing repair work which is long-overdue as the 'margins' are very 'decayed' in several locations. They really cannot fix them without blocking the tracks.

Investments in new frontline staff improving customer satisfaction and safety

Feb. 26, 2024

Newly released data shows significant improvements in TTC customer satisfaction, particularly in safety, following investments in new customer-facing personnel. Last September, the TTC announced it would vastly enhance the visible presence of staff throughout the system, by hiring 130 customer service agents and 30 supervisors at key subway stations, and on the bus and streetcar networks.

The latest findings show that since October 2023, customer satisfaction with safety on the TTC has increased seven points (61 per cent), with overall satisfaction among subway users up five points (71 per cent). During the same period, the rate of offences against customers in subway stations decreased by 11 per cent, with a 10 per cent decline across the system. Since January 2023, the rate of offences against customers has shown an overall decline of 24 per cent.

“It is clear that customers value the visible presence of TTC staff in the subway, as well as having more eyes and ears on the platform,” said Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. “The positive feedback from customers underscores the importance of investing in frontline personnel and creating a welcoming and secure environment for all TTC riders.”

“These improvements in customer satisfaction are encouraging and a strong indication that our investment in new, highly visible customer-facing staff is working,” said TTC Chair Jamaal Myers. “Improving customer access to staff not only benefits current riders, but will contribute to attracting new customers to the TTC.”

“By adding more customer service agents in stations and expanding supervisory coverage, the TTC is actively working to improve the safety and well-being of both customers and transit operators,” said TTC CEO Rick Leary. “The increased visibility of staff and improved incident response capabilities are tangible outcomes of these strategic investments.”

The data further reveals that since last October, 69 per cent of customers reported ease of receiving assistance when needed, marking a five-point improvement. Additionally, satisfaction with staff helpfulness scores rose by six points to 65 per cent, and overall pride in the TTC increased by five points to 61 per cent.

Every month, the TTC surveys 500 customers, measuring overall satisfaction levels across all modes, as well as specific customer satisfaction aspects, such as safety, comfort, cleanliness, staff helpfulness, information, and ease of use. Findings are published monthly in the TTC CEO Report and presented to the TTC Board.

Has anyone noticed the lack of E-Alerts recently?

I heard a rumor it is related to a possibly cyberattack on the system.

Can't confirm the rumor but I noticed it's been a couple weeks without any alerts.
