The Star: Is it closing time for the Matador?

Oh, please. Adam Vaughan, in print in yesterday's National Post, called Peter Gatien a "jerk" and was a complete fucking cry-baby. I can call him an asshole if I want since it lines up with the level of discourse that he is setting. Anyways, this is yet another red herring...the issue here is...

    Tories Plan War on Drugs

Stupid, stupid, stupid....but what they're doing is just shoring up their base. The hinterlands are gettin' hungry for some red-meat conservatism from the Harperites, so this is a bone to throw to them. Politics, as usual.

The Star: Is it closing time for the Matador?

You're exactly right...the only reason they want to close it down is because a few neighbours are irritated by its presence. Here we have a city council that claims abject poverty yet authorizes 800K to expropriate and build a parking lot? And a city that claims to want to be a green leader, yet...

The Star: Is it closing time for the Matador?

Article in today's Globe confirming that Council voted to expropriate the land in order to build a parking lot. Giambrone is in full support of this...yes, in the year 2007 we have decided to tear down history to build a parking lot. Note that the YMCA rep indicated that they have NEVER...

UTM Campus a Joke No More!

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound so harsh. I was just basing my opinion on friends that have attended there and what they've told me.

UTM Campus a Joke No More!

Who thinks York is cool? It's a commuter campus, filled with hideous architecture, bad food, no campus spirit, and it's in the middle of nowhere.

    Toronto Toronto | Market Wharf | 110.33m | 33s | Context Development | a—A

Interchange, I totally agree with your comments about Montreal. Montreal is not constructing stunning new buildings at breakneck speed. Most of what goes up there is pretty unremarkable. As you said, there's the odd looker, but for the most part it's pretty standard stuff.

The Star: Is it closing time for the Matador?

More on the idiocy of this city at times: 43 years of history vs. 20 parking spots Sep 26, 2007 04:30 AM Christopher Hume URBAN AFFAIRS COLUMNIST The gap between what the city does and what it says is growing wider. That became clear recently when we heard that Toronto wants to...

The Star: Is it closing time for the Matador?

I'm a driver, too. But this is ridiculous - to tear down a building in a fully-serviced neighbourhood to build a parking lot? This ain't Whitby we're talking about here. Plus do you think a ton of out-of-town tourists rent cars when they're here to toot around from downtown neighbourhood to...

The Star: Is it closing time for the Matador?

How ironic that the city is encourging private automobile use by upping the parking inventory in the area. What a joke. A location that's served by the College streetcar, or a walk down from Ossington station. I thought we were supposed to be a city going green, led by our magnificent municipal...

how are FM radio stations still making money

It's better than other mainstream stations, but if you listened to CFNY in the 80's and early 90s, you would realize that it's gone way downhill ever since. Exhibit A - Nickelback.

how are FM radio stations still making money

Believe it or not, but it's gone even further downhill from there...think Nickelback.

how are FM radio stations still making money

Think of FM radio stations as the radio equivalent of ABC, NBC and CBS. While the big three have had their audiences erode by specialty channels and the internet, most people still watch these stations relative to the other choices out there. Same goes for radio, per AP's post.

    Homelessness and Panhandling in Toronto

The reason some people incorrectly perceive crime to be increasing is because of the non-stop media coverage of crime. Remember, if it bleeds, it leads. There are so many more outlets now for people to be exposed to crime stories (more tv stations, more news shows, the internet) along with the...
