GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Yes I read what Metrolinx had on the subject so far. Outside of Finch and Steele’s, however, there are a half-dozen other arteries that should have merited mention but have not been. I.e. Denison, Kennedy, McNicholl, Huntington etc. And again, if the plan is to separate some or all of these...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Off the current topic, so please forgive me. But does anyone know if the level crossings along the Stouffville Line, between the Scarborough Junction(?) and Unionville Go, are going to be separated? And if so, why not now, while the whole thing is still such a mess being worked on? Outside of...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Isn’t it just going to end up being dubbed ‘Line 7’ or whatever number we’re up to by the time it actually opens?

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

I do remember the four track/flyover thing. That’s what I was posting about earlier. It was before the RER only on Metrolinx owned track phase of announcements, when they thought to improve service on all 7 lines. Don’t quite remember if it was full system RER or some sort of steady AD2W pre RER...

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

But I thought some time ago that ML had a agreed-to plan in place to fully build out a two track corridor parallel to CP’s tracks on which it could move GO ops (stations etc), including a crossover/flyover. It was expensive but could feasibly be done.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

That stretch of 410 from Steeles (or even Derry) north to Queen definitely does not clear by 6:30pm. I regularly see parking lot conditions well beyond 7 and even 8pm most weekday evenings. I never use that stretch of road during the pm rush or evenings until after 9pm. The HOV lane + 3 general...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I would have assumed that run throughs, separate pathing and minimal crossovers had to be a part of any service expansion plans for Union. They shouldn’t need any more fly unders anywhere. Just lay track using the right patterns. And (imho), they should have started with the 5/6 tracks in the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Given the crowding we were seeing this week, I think it’s worth a tweet at least. Maybe less backpatting, just a short term solution to a noted problem. More announcement/press conference worthy would be how we would get more than hourly evening and weekend service and more daily service to...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I use a separate app called GOToronto (for iPhone or iPad). It quickly displays the schedule between any two points for the entire day with fare prices and has a quick link to the Union departure board as well.

407 Rail Freight Bypass/The Missing Link

But Phil Verster is on record as of a few months ago claiming that Metrolinx couldn't get the additional track time from CN for more service. Reference to "trying to drive across the neighbours' land and the neighbour simply saying no" or some such. I would be very interested to know what would...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Just downloaded Presto beta for iPhone. Navigation is functional & easier and faster than website. Layout is fairly straightforward. Like the basic black & white as well. Too bad there’s no NFC capability. :(

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

There is a 4th track at Bramalea (platform currently under construction) but it doesn’t run all the way from the actual junction with CN just east of the station. Currently 2 Metrolinx tracks and 2 CN tracks merge into 3 tracks all technically belonging to CN. Then a separate 4th track comes out...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

At least the north set of escalators should have been up & running. In the afternoon rush, the vast majority of the crowd is coming from that direction.

Mmmmmuffin... Or was it Treats? And I miss Michel’s as well. And Cinnabon goes without saying. Although there is one within 5 minute walk from me

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I agree 100%. Especially where Ford(s) are concerned. The question is, I f the PCs try this, how vehemently will the business community in Mississauga complain, I.e. developers getting set to unlock some of the potential of north central Mississauga based on the LRT coming in? Would such an...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

Cinnabon was open quite late before as well. I would expect that McD’s, Timmy’s and probably Pizza Pizza at least will be open pretty much until the last patrons/commuters are gone for the night based on the hours they generally keep on the street. I’m usually passing through late (10-11pm) and...

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Are the PCs really going to “cry poor” and cancel the “Huron LRT” (lol) then in the same breath promise a subway to Square One? Which would not cost $1-2 billion, as was stated earlier in this thread. Distance is about 12km x $372 million per km for subway construction (based on TYSSE) = ~$4.5...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

But I would think this PC government would quickly realize that the amount of money they spent on a subway extension to Pickering, say, could go a long way toward building out a GO RER system that pretty much encompasses all existing GO corridors. And certainly everything immediately planned by...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

And in the meantime... GO Transit? Which literally means Government of Ontario Transit? A system of trains that already run into the suburbs that the province already owns and operates? Maybe step up efforts to run more of those trains?... Maybe...?

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

This and other projects took too long getting off the ground while the Liberals were in power, unfortunately leaving it/them vulnerable to the PC axe. It would be so sad but not overly surprising to see a real dial back in transit spending across the region.
