Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

yes, even just acquiring the TTCs pile of leftover spare parts would still be useful to them, I suspect

    Hamilton Toronto | Hamilton Line B LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

It will be interesting to see how the vehicle procurement goes - given the substantial number of potential manufacturers, and how much politics plays into the decision making process... Edmonton has ordered trains from Hyundai Rotem, Calgary has ordered from CAF, Alstom would obviously be...

Roads: Ambassador & Gordie Howe Bridges

I wonder what efforts they will to try to keep customers? I would not be surprised if the fuel prices drop a little, and their toll is set just below the Gordie Howe ones. Perhaps lobbying for a big sign on the 401 that says something like "USA - Gordie Howe $x , Ambassador $y , Tunnel $z "...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Yes, that's the point I'm trying to make - the tunnel should be the easy part, but at this rate they are building - they'll still be building the Scarborough Subway in 2050! bit of an exaggeration

    Proposed renaming of Dundas Street

So we're jumping the gun here?

    Proposed renaming of Dundas Street

I honestly think just renaming the City assets is a reasonable compromise from a cost/benefit perspective - although I'm a little annoyed that the open goal of simply calling YD Square "Yonge Square" will be avoided. Uh, I thought they'd be developing a shortlist, not making the final decision...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Yonge-Dundas Square, TTC stations to be renamed under new city council proposal (Toronto Star) Council item: MM13.29 - Confronting the Legacy of the Transatlantic Slave Trade: Renaming Civic Assets Bearing the Henry Dundas Name - by Councillor Chris Moise, seconded by Mayor Olivia Chow

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Just north of Highway 401 could be ... a kilometre of tunnel? At this rate, the tunnel will be done by .... counts on fingers ... 2030? 10 to 15 metres a day should mean that a tunnel of 7.8km would be completed in around 2 years - at an optimistic 1km of tunnel dug since January, they've dug at...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I wonder if they'll end up putting some anti trepass panels at the pedestrian crossings...

    Toronto Toronto | Corus Quay | ?m | 8s | Waterfront Toronto | Diamond Schmitt

I think this is great news for the East Bayfront - really cementing an anchor tenant! If only the Université de l'Ontario français would grow a little more...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I've done a fair bit of reading about this recently - in light of TfLs financial difficulties following COVID-19 and the loss of all of their fare revenue, and looking at other ways to fund transit operating costs. TfL has set up its own property development company - so it can gain rental...

    Toronto Toronto | 4151 Sheppard East | 152.9m | 46s | REACH Developments | Sweeny &Co

Regardless of the design, a perfect example of why value capture for a Sheppard line extension would be a good idea...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Good example here from Edmonton - maybe a good compromise would have been fitting stops considered to have high traffic levels with a heated shelter? But.... you would need more street width, and there has been the desire for two traffic lanes in each direction...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Completely agree - the only way this is going to work is with automated enforcement.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Place | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON

Maybe we need a "future of the Ontario Science Centre" site thread... because the parking lots would be perfect for housing, and the building itself could be a magnificent anchor of a post secondary institution, or a cultural facility. The idea of two "science centres" in the same city is not...

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

Maybe when the City was in charge of the project, but the MTOs reputation for urbanism, exceptional urban design and landscaping is... not great

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

I honestly think conceptually this project is a good idea - but yes, the execution sounds like it might be not great. Get someone like RATP (well, SYSTRA) on the phone and give them carte blanche to build quality light rail in this corridor, to hell with Transportation Services and their...

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

We have the same problem here in the UK - local authorities get measured by how many houses get built to completion, however construction is the only bit of the planning process we have no control over!

    Mayor Olivia Chow's Toronto

Because she proposed an upload of the Gardiner and the DVP? Bit of a stretch...
