Pfffft. More studies. The Pie-IX SRB should've been a tram line, the frequency is not great outside peak hours! And this obsession with elevated rail viaducts being ugly and hence not acceptable is funny considering how the same seems to be okay for automobiles. One should go take a look at the...

Might as well complete the Dorval extension and open 'em all together if it is going to be delayed. Oh wait, they'll want to do a 'study' now for that.

I was hoping they'd consider that with REM De l'est but the announcement was all quiet on it but talked about further extensions on the south shore.

Was at Notre Dame street this afternoon (Brrr...what a cold day!!) to drop off something and got to see the wide green belt that the REM de l'est is to be built on. Curious to know - How did this area come to have such a wide green belt? The road is narrow for one that carries truck traffic...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Off topic - Coincidentally was talking of the same with a friend who is looking to buy ... while this will open up new areas to better mobility, it will also make further parts of the island unaffordable to buy. 🤷‍♂️ That has already happened in the west island suburbs after REM took off. That...

I do hope they bundle the extension of REM to Dorval into this phase. That is subject to the airport going ahead with the proposed REM station.

What an interesting piece of news. Just looked this proposal up on a map. Downtown Montreal will have 3 parallel lines - Orange, REM and Green. The northern arm along Dickson could see an interchange with l'Assomption on the green line, the future Jean Talon/Lacordaire station of the blue line...

Ah Montréal winters... I am just starting to get a peek of it!! 😂🥶 Looking at the photo of the existing station below, the REM station is reincarnation for Canora!!. The stations looks fine indeed, no doubt. Probably at ground level, behind a cover of green, the station won't stick out as much...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Well while REM seems to be sticking to a certain colour and theme for its stations, the Canora one seems a little out of character with the surroundings!?

New to Montréal here and I wondered the same. Saving grace, we have two parallel seats - two fixed and two foldable - around the gangways/vestibules that make the car-to-car movement somewhat easier. As somebody pointed out, with all the extra layering of clothes in winter, chaotic to manoeuvre...
