    Pictures from the G20

Thanks seemsartless! I'm hoping that with the world leaders arriving today and tomorrow, the forums vast network of people can find a way to collect, distribute and share the best photos from the summit. This will surely be a memorable weekend, so any way to document is important as far as I see it.

    G-20 Summit in Toronto

Here are some pictures from a small protest of the G20 by UofT faculty and students. They were angry about "global capitalism" and the temporary closure of the campus for the G20 summit. They weren't the biggest group but the police definitely had a presence by following them and making sure...

    Pictures from the G20

As press from around the world descend on Toronto this week for the G20, let's make a collection of our own to share photos from the world meeting. From barricades, to protests and any rare sightings of world leaders at Tim Hortons, this can be the destination to post photos from the week ahead...

Carlton Cinema is shutting down... and opening back up again

It's too bad, I had some nice memories with my dad at the Carlton. Even with all this back and forth I think it's going to take a while for them to try and get back to where they once were. It'll take a full service marketing campaign by Rainbow just to get moviegoers convinced Cineplex didn't...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

It shocks me how Ford has gained popularity. He's looking to represent one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world and yet he has a notable history of racist and discriminatory incidents. I understand his fiscal discipline may be attractive, but there are stronger candidates with the same...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

@GM, I just looked that up and it looks like Rossi's son is out in Halifax for college. As for the others, it isn't so clear about where their kids are attending school.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

I really like Rocco Rossi. Although his ties to Ignatieff may hurt him with some potential voters it actually makes me very happy as I really like Iggy. Also, his key values on debt reduction will be truly beneficial to the city along with decongesting downtown. Rossi can bring the jobs in too...

A place to live downtown — with the kids

The Annex is a truly wonderful place to live. Great atmosphere and close enough to the action where you can still pop in and out of the fast pace. Really nice houses there too.

Please help me decide what university to go to!

Also, I realize that it's Waterloo Planning - but maybe you would be able to transfer into the Arch. program. Also, Waterloo planning is still a great and reputable program.

Please help me decide what university to go to!

I love Toronto and Ryerson is a great school but the program/academics is what's important here and I wold choose Waterloo in this case. Although it's not as 'fun' a school, in the sense that you don't have the city at your disposal, the RIM boys have really built up Waterloo and their Arch...

    Toronto Entertainment District

That's usually what turns me off the most; spending all that cash. A night can range from $20 to $60 depending on where you spend it. With cabs starting at $4.00, an easy route from Yonge-Bloor to the ET District can leave your wallet empty. Especially with all the construction going on, the...

Yes, Goldie, I think you're right. For the record, it was a Ford. So let's keep our eyes open and see how they were able to fit the distillery into their ad.

    Distillery District

Thanks everyone for the picture-related comments! Sadly I don't live there, but boy would I love to wake up to see that view everyday. Also, I think that if chains were to open up in the district then it would definitely change the character of the area for sure. Right now, I can't see a...

    Distillery District

Well said UrbanVigor! I too think the new condos aren't much of a concern. Plus, the view from up there is just fantastic. Here's a picture I took from the 18th floor (out of 32, I believe) looking west towards the downtown area. Also, looking out to lake Ontario is beautiful and it's also...

    Distillery District

The Distillery District The Distillery is, with out a doubt, one of Toronto's coolest areas. It's always got something going on, always something hip to see and always bringing in many tourists to get a sip of Balzac's coffee. Let's discuss the district and give it the forum thread it...

    G-20 Summit in Toronto

I feel like Ignatieff and the Liberals could really use this to their advantage here. At a family dinner recently, my uncle suggested Ignatieff should even take this issue to the polls and see how Harper does. Although, I find that to be a bit extreme (and probably wouldn't help the Liberals win...
