    Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Enhancement

Until six months after the reno is complete, several of the fins will be removed for water leak remediation in random locations around the station and it'll look that way for at least two-three years until they get replaced and different fins get taken out leaving a gap-tooth ceiling. That's the...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

That's the saddest thing in this report - that this goes all the way back to 2006 with action recommended then, and it has just dragged on since.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Jack Layton was a big proponent of building the satellite downtowns and spreading out the density away from downtown Toronto. He opposed the Relief Line on the basis that it would encourage further density downtown.

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

The Network 2011 plan from 1985 had the Sheppard subway as the first priority and being built by 1993, which is consistent with syn's first point above. We only got half of it nine years later thanks to the usual dithering and Mike Harris. Metro's plan was to build out satellite downtowns at...

TTC CLRV Streetcars: Where will they go once they are retired?

There will be a lot of moisture and condensation on the car when we get into fall when the nights are chilly and the days are warm, that's when getting some cover on it will really help. The condensation gets into cracks in the paint and body filler and then later that trapped moisture expands...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

And all this happened right on the heels of GO taking delivery of about 200 new coaches. Are they even using 200 coaches to run all the consists that are needed right now?

    TTC: Streetcar Network

Those rails were still in the roadway on the Queensway when it was taken up for road rebuilding in the not so distant past. in ancient times there was a streetcar-rail crossing on Danforth east of Main St., which was just a single track spur, a crossing on Front St. west of Simcoe, Queen &...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

The Bay concourse will definitely go back to being the default for most travelers, especially the occasional ones who come into Union from Bay or Front St. or from the subway because it's a straight route in. Add in Scotiabank Arena crowds and the York concourse should thin out quite a bit in...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

2007 is farther back than you think. The LRT idea might have been suitable for when it was proposed in the mid-2000s, but it's 13 years ago now that Transit City was announced. A higher-order grid of transit is still needed to keep up with the increasing ridership. Convoys of express buses is...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

The Sheppard Subway as originally proposed (all the way to Scarborough Town Centre) was part of that Metro scheme to connect North York and Scarborough city centres by rapid transit and spread out commercial development away from the downtown. Jack Layton was one of the more ardent opponents of...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

So four have come back, of which one is in service, and no more have left yet. At this rate, it'll take about 16 years to finish this work. 4402 seems to be tracking at Bedford & Lowther, has it gone to Hillcrest? It's been languishing at Leslie for the past 9 months or so.

And just how are these battery buses going to be recharged if you just park them all over the place? They still need to be cleaned... have you seen how dirty buses are inside that have been out all day? Even if you just had an overnight parking garage, all the buses would need to be fueled...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

It'll be like the pre-renovation flow of people except that the masses who don't want to go into the subway will now have to walk all the way around the fare-paid area to get to the entrance to Royal Bank Plaza instead of having the clear path between the fare-paid areas. Hopefully they'll have...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

And where is the head honcho? Nowhere to be seen or heard from. Andy Byford would have been down there in the subway doing the rounds with the staff and even on the street. At least with his presence, it seemed like he cared about keeping everyone informed and moral support to the staff. Edit...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

That makes sense, and since there was no service running between Museum and St. Patrick that wouldn't be an issue to bring these trains over. Thanks!

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I think those trains would have entered the line from Lower Bay so they would have traversed the section between Museum and St. Patrick in order to get to the Yonge side. Would they override the ATC for such a move? Anyone know how that would work? Radio dispatch from station to station?
