    Calgary | Plaza | 113.5m | 33s | Cantiro | GEC

Because it contains an affordable housing component, I believe it is likely being fast tracked, so it's certainly possible - but the DP might need to go to Planning Commission first. Unless, of course, they're doing a Scotia Place and can start shoring and excavation in advance?

    Calgary | Village Block | 27m | 6s | Liberty Housing | Metafor

Sad to see the curves go, but it's still a decent building IMO.

    Calgary | The Sentinel | 24m | 6s | Arlington Street | Jackson McCormick

I'd be fine with the wood frame if the design was better. Enzo is turning out great, and Broward looks good as well (based on the renders at least). Some of the best cities in the world - including big European cities like Paris and Barcelona - are comprised almost entirely of mid rise forms...

    Calgary | Enzo | 27m | 6s | Arlington Street | DAAS

Very happy with this one. Arlington's projects so far have turned out well which bodes well for Francesco's and also gives me some optimism that Sentinel won't end up looking so bad after all.

    Calgary | Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

This is actually turning out well!

    Calgary | Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

I think that includes all the offsite improvements such as road upgrades, underpass etc that the Province is paying for

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I agree. One of the concerns I have with these rowhouse developments going up everywhere is that they seem to be a way for developers to use it as a shortcut to achieve apartment-style density without apartment-style amenities like proper waste & recycling collection and decent common spaces...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I'd like to see a future stadium be a catalyst for redevelopment, so a location either on the bus barns site or the west village get my votes.

    Calgary Regional Rail Transit

ICE has decent ridership but unfortunately, Airdrie has a mayor and council who don't place much importance on transit. Mayor Peter Brown once said that ICE should be entirely self-sustaining (ie not rely on subsidies or taxpayer support). Not sure if his approach on this has changed, but with...

I would think a decent CFL-ready facility should be relatively affordable - this isn't the NFL. Capacity of 30,000 would be fine. Winnipeg, Hamilton and Regina all built new stadia, and all are cities half or less the size of Calgary.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

At some point, I wonder if structural issues might force a debate about McMahon's future? I wonder if a new or massively renovated stadium at the centre of a high density redevelopment similar to what was done in Ottawa might be the way forward?

    General Construction Updates

As someone who very rarely gets down to Seton, I also appreciate the updates.

Confirmed, Calgary hosting the 2026 Grey Cup. Festivities to take place at Stampede Park/BMO Centre with the game itself at McMahon. But no expansion or renovation of McMahon, sadly.

    Calgary | AHC 6th Ave | 25m | 6s | Attainable Homes Calgary | Hindle Architects

The DP for AHC's site to the south has been submitted. DP2024-07712, should be showing up on Dmap soon. It is, not surprisingly, more or less the same as the rendering MichaelS posted on Aug 10.

    General Construction Updates

That one looks decent. The brick makes a big difference on these IMO.

    General Construction Updates

It is a "missing middle" application similar to some of the others we've seen along 20th. They had a billboard up for a while showing the renders and if I recall correctly it's similar in size, scale and design to the one going up across from the Scandinavian Centre at 20th and 7th.

    Calgary | Sydney | 21m | 6s | Morrison Homes | NORR

Around 5 or so years ago there was a plan to redevelop North Hill Mall with some big residential towers (one proposed at 50+ floors). The ownership is split between Concord Pacific (I think?) and Bentall (I also think?) with the old Sears store being the dividing line for ownership. I can't...

    Calgary | Sydney | 21m | 6s | Morrison Homes | NORR

I think it'll be fine. Shoppers is known for often having stores pretty close together with one another, and this one will likely draw in Rosedale and Mt Pleasant customers who probably wouldn't venture to Centre St anyways.

    Calgary | The Sentinel | 24m | 6s | Arlington Street | Jackson McCormick

I am hoping the Sentinel DP will need to go to Planning Commission. If that happens, there's at least a bit of opportunity for it to be sent back for some further work. It's just not up to par for such an important intersection. Even Truman's new DP in Carrington (at the edge of town) looks...
