All five of Canada’s parties in Parliament are positioned to the centre. There are no rabid communists nor jackboot fascists in the House of Commons. All five are government-enlarging, tax increasing, deficit-spending, nanny state boosting, defence-neglecting parties. By his second fiscal budget, after the realities of governance set in, PM Poilievre will be expanding government responsibilities and spending on multiple new initiatives while throwing billions more into existing programs as well as duplicating programs that encroach on provincial jurisdictions, and, like Con PM Stephen Harper and all PMs before him, neglecting defence spending. They’re all the same.In what universe is the current Conservative party positioned to the centre?
I don't consider parties that hang out with Diagolon, attack LGBTQ+, court the MGTOW crowd, and attend pro-life rallies to be center parties no matter what their fiscal policies are.All five of Canada’s parties in Parliament are positioned to the centre. You think the far left is pro-alphabet? Socialists the world over have a long history of anti-gay hate.I don't consider parties that hang out with Diagolon, attack LGBTQ+, court the MGTOW crowd, and attend pro-life rallies to be center parties no matter what their fiscal policies are.

Relax brother, not everything is a microaggression or trigger. I've just done a quick whip-round with my queer pals and direct family, and no one I know takes offense with the term alphabet, unless used in a derogatory manner. But that doesn't mean you can't be offended, everyone has a right to take offence of anything, so you do you. I will however suggest another acronym to bring us back together, ALOTBSOL (“always look on the bright side of life”)."pro-alphabet"? Is the mask slipping?
As a card carrying NDP member since 2006 I'd much rather see Jagmeet go the way of Mulcair.
He adds nothing of value to the party although there is nobody who can take his place.
I'd rather electoral reform over a merger. I think there is a room for a centre-left party and a left wing party.
Justin Trudeau has taken the liberal party too far left.
They went to bed with the NDP, even taking policies such as the capital gains tax. What you are seeing is a ton of blue liberals moving to the conservatives.Really?
In what way?
Would that be the $10 per day daycare that not a single Conservative Premier balked at or refused to deliver?
The very limited scope dental program that most Canadians poll as being in favour of? (indeed they polled in favour of universal dentalcare a much more expansive program)
The meager $200 per month benefit for disabled Canadians that left advocates of the benefit disheartened as they'd be lead to be believe it would be closer to $1,000 per month.

Yes, the deficit is too high (really we should be in balance), but that owes to two principle causes, corporate welfare (see Volkswagen deal) and relatively low taxes. There is also some material inefficiency and a highly suspect infrastructure bank, but I digress.

I don't think Canadians broadly view the Trudeau government as too far left, they view it as out of touch, acting against the interests of most Canadians, particularly on immigration (see TFWs and Foreign Students) the former owing to appeasing big business desire for cheap labour and the latter owing to the same as well as Ontario being unwilling to properly fund post-secondary education, which might necessitate a hike in the provincial portion of the HST.
That, general fatigue faced by any government 9 years in....... and Trudeau et. al ' s penchant for seeing condescending and smug.
Freeland on poverty/housing....... 'people should just cut the Disney channel'
All that along with hours long lines to get a passport, and a host of smaller issues.........
But really....... housing, housing, housing.
You still haven't let me know what current mainstream party is "far-left", and shown me their anti-lgtbq+ policies.Relax brother, not everything is a microaggression or trigger. Even though I will be presumably joining you and voting NDP (in Toronto Centre a non-Liberal vote's wasted otherwise) I do not believe PM Poilievre will go to town on abortion or 2SLGBTQAI+ rights or issues. But we'll have to see, and remain vigilant if his more conservative MPs start making noises this way.
Of course this whole scenario could vanish if Trudeau would step down and allow a new leader to take the reigns and bring the country and its mood out of the malaise and frustration that is driving us toward the Cons.
Do you have any evidence of this, any polling to suggest this is true? They went to bed with the NDP, even taking policies such as the capital gains tax. What you are seeing is a ton of blue liberals moving to the conservatives.
There is evidence of blue liberals moving to the conservatives. Justin Trudeau needs to resign for the liberals to move back to the center. The liberal party is a centrist party, and they need to get back to that if they want anyone to vote for them.Do you have any evidence of this, any polling to suggest this is true?
You do know capital gains was higher under Conservative government right?
Provide it.There is evidence of blue liberals moving to the conservatives.
Could we see Trudeau revisit this soon if it stands a chance of torpedoing the Con's chances? The LPC is smoked under the current system, so you might as well set a torch to the lot on your way out.Like you, and for the above reason, I'd rather see electoral reform too.
